He reminded the Council that a subcommittee of the
Development Group and some of the city staff are now meeting with
about four developers who have shown varying degrees of interest in
putting together a project on Vinegar Hill. Such a project would
include a first class hotel of 200 to 250 rooms, with a conference
center, underground parking and possibly a health club. He stated
that the study done by Zuchelli, Hunter and Associates showed that
about $11 million worth of private funds, $2.5 million in public
funds and $2.9 million either public or private a total of about
$16.5 million -- would be needed for this project. He repeated the
assumption, that there would be certain public costs involved, and
in dealing with the developers it appears these will be the cost

of the conference center and the cost of the parking. He stated there
could also be some .public costs, involved in acquiring the land, and
some public space deve%opment in or around the hotel itself.
