Executive Session <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the addition of this fine player to an already <br />outstanding team is certain to produce an exciting and victorious <br />season for the Cavaliers in 1979v80~ <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the <br />City of Charlottesville that Ralph Sampson is hereby welcomed <br />to the Charlottesville area as a student, athlete, and member <br />of the community; and be it further <br /> <br /> RESOLVED that the Clerk of the Council is directed to <br />send a certified copy of this Resolution to Ralph Sampson and to <br />Terry Holland, Head Basketball Coach at the University of Virginia. <br /> <br />A motion by Mr. Gatewood~ seconded by Mr. Albro that Council <br /> <br />meet in executive session to discuss a matter exempted by Section <br /> <br />2.1-344(a) (1) of the Virginia Freedom of Information Act was adopted <br /> <br />by the following recorded vote. Brunton (signed) <br /> <br />President <br /> <br /> The Council met in special session on this date with the following <br />members present: Mr. Albro, Mr. Brunton, Mr. Buck, Mr. Gatewood and <br />Mrs. O'Brien. Absent: None. <br /> <br /> Mr. Bob Stripling advised the Council that the State Department <br />of Highways and Transportation has set aside some money in its <br />budget to fund experimental mass transit projects in the state. He <br />stated the staff has looked at the guidelines and have tried to <br />come up with some possibilities for the City of Charlottesville in <br />terms of projects for our mass transit system. He stated that after <br />examining a number of alternatives with the type of equipment we <br />have, we are limited in some of ~he things we can do. He stated <br />the representatives of the state were in Charlottesville and some <br />of the things we could do were discussed with him and he felt the <br />best possibilities were the express bus system and the demand <br />response subscription service. He stated the Council was being <br />presented the second alternative which would have a good possibility <br /> <br /> <br />
