Resolution re: <br />San Bruno, California <br />"Sister City" <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, San Bruno, California has adopted Charlottes- <br />ville as a "sister city" for the purpose of celebrating the <br />Bicentennial Year activities with each communitY; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is most appropriate that cities join <br />in celebrating our nation'~s heritage by exchanging unique <br />experiences and hertiages to other localities throughout our <br />country; now <br /> <br /> THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City <br />of Charlottesville that San Bruno, California is recognized <br />as our "sister city" for the purpose of jointly celebrating <br />the 1976 Bicentennial activities; and <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the citizens of our <br />sister city are encouraged to experience our hospitality by <br />visiting Charlottesville for such activities as the opening <br />of the Rotunda of the University of Virginia, the Dogwood <br />Festival, the visit of her Majesty, the Queen of England and <br />the many other Bicentennial events. <br /> <br /> The Clerk of the Council is directed to send copies <br />of the resolution to the governing body of our sister city <br />for their information. <br /> <br />Resolution re: <br />Lawrence, New Jersey <br />"Sister City" <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Gilliam, seconded by Mr. Van Yahres <br /> <br />the following resOlution was unanimously adopted. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Township of Lawrence, New Jersey has <br />adopted Charlottesville as a "sister city" for the purpose of <br />celebrating the Bicentennial Year activities with each <br />community; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is most appropriate that cities join <br />in celebrating our nation'.m, heritage by exchanging unique <br />experiences and heritages to other localities throughout our <br />country; now <br /> <br /> THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the COuncil of the City <br />of Charlottesville that the Township of Lawrence, New Jersey <br />is recognized as our "sister city'" for the purpose of jointly <br />celebrating the 1976 Bicentennial activities; and <br /> <br /> BE IT F. URTHER RESOLVED that the citizens of our <br />sisner city are encouraged to experience our hospitality by <br />visiting Charlottesville for such activities as the opening <br />of the Rotunda of the University of Virginia, the Dogwood <br />Festival, the visit of her Majesty, the Queen of England and <br />the many other Bicentennial events. <br /> <br /> The Clerk of the Council is directed to send copies <br />of this resolution to the governing body of our sister city <br />for their information. <br /> <br />Ordinance re: Closing <br />& Vacating "Conways <br />Alley" and "Jessups <br />Alley" <br /> <br /> An ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE CLOSING, VACATING <br />AND DISCONTINUING TWO ALLEYS IN THE GARRETT STREET RENEWAL <br />PROJECT KNOWN AS JESSUP'S ALLEY AND CONWAY'S ALLEY IN THE CITY <br /> <br />OF CHARLOTTESVILLE," which was offered at the meeting of the <br /> <br />Council on February 2, 1976, was adopted by the following <br />recorded vote. Ayes: Mr. Barbour, Mr. Fife, Mr. Gilliam, Mrs. <br /> <br />Rinehart and Mr.Van Yahres. Noes: None. <br /> <br />Consideration re: <br />Ordinance re: Creating <br />an Advisory Board for <br />the Community Attention <br />Home <br /> <br /> An ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE TO PROVIDE FOR THE <br />OPERATION AND CONTROL OF THE COMMUNITY ATTENTION HOME, TO <br />CREATE AN ADVISORY BOARD FOR SUCH HOME AND TO ESTABLISH <br />THE MEMBERSHIP, TERMS AND FUNCTIONS OF SUCH BOARD," was <br />offered by Mr. Fife, seconded by Mrs. Rinehart and carried <br /> <br />over to the next meeting for consideration. <br /> <br /> <br />
