,? <br /> <br />Appropriation re: <br />Installation of <br />Street Lights - <br />$663.25 <br /> <br />Communication re: <br />Traffic Engineer <br />regarding light <br />on Wayside Place <br /> <br />Request for Loan <br />from Ch'ville <br />Redevelopment & <br />Housing Authority <br /> <br />Resolution re: <br />CETA Contracts <br /> <br /> A communication~wap py~esented from the City Traffic Engineer <br /> stating that fourteen new street lights have been requested, and <br /> reviewed by his department, and recommended the installation of <br /> these lights. He stated the cost of installation and the operating <br /> costs for the remainder of the year would be $663.25. On motion <br /> by Mr. Gatewood, seconded by Mr. Brunton the following resolution <br /> was adopted by the following recorded vote. Ayes: Mr. Barbour, <br /> Mr. Brunton, Mr. Fife, Mr. Gatewood and Mrs. O'Brien. Noes: None. <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by theCouncil of the City of Charlottesville <br /> that $663.25 be and the same is hereby appropriated from the <br /> General Fund for instRllation of street lights. <br /> <br /> A communication was presented from the Traffic Engineer <br /> <br /> stating that he had received a request to install one street light <br /> at a mid-block location on Wayside Place and recommending that the <br /> Council not approve the use of public funds for installing and <br /> maintaining this street light. He stated that the placement of a <br /> single light in the middle of a long block with no relationship <br /> to any existing lights would result in a lighting pattern that is <br /> neither uniform nor of adequate minimum intensity. On motion by <br /> Mr. Barbour, seconded by Mr. Gatewood the Traffic Engineer's <br /> recommendation was unanimously approved. <br /> <br /> A request was presented from the Charlottesville Redevelopment <br /> and Housing Authority for a loan of $25,000 to allow the Housing <br /> Authority to employ architects to commence final drawings for the <br /> scattered site housing projects. It stated that these funds will <br /> be reimbursed to the City when HUD finally funds the projects in <br /> their entirety. On motion by Mr. Barbour~ seconded by Mr. Fife <br /> the following resolution was offered and carried over to the next <br /> meeting for consideration. <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville that $25,000 be and the same is hereby appropriated <br />from the Capital Fund as a loan to the Charlottesville Redevelop- <br />ment and Housing Authority. <br /> <br />Mr. Richard Collins, Chairman of the Redevelopment and Housing <br />Authority addressed the Council and requested a moral commitment of <br />funds to purchase land for the scattered housing sites if HUD money <br />is not available, if negotiations for the sites are completed before <br />HUD funds are available. The Council assured Mr. Collins that the <br />money could be made available on a loan basis until HUD funds are <br />received. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Brunton, seconded by Mr. Gatewood the <br /> <br />following resolution was unanimously adopted. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Charlottesville qualifies as a <br />recipient of federal funds the Comprehensive Employment and Training <br />Act of 1973, as amended; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the allocation of funds under such Act is made <br />in varying amounns from time to time and requires the filing <br />of applications, assurances, reports and other documentation frora <br />time to time; <br /> <br /> <br />
