Consideration re: <br />Ordinance - Lease on <br />742 Nall Street <br /> <br />Ordinance re: Parking <br />Privileges to <br />members of the Volunteer <br />Fire Company and <br />Rescue Squad <br /> <br />Executive Session <br /> <br /> 2'47 <br /> An ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR <br /> <br />TO SIGN A LEASE FOR A TERM OF FORTY YEARS OF CITY PROPERTY LOCATED <br /> <br />AT 742 NALLE STREET," was offered by Mr. Fife, seconded by Mr. Barbour <br /> <br />and carried over to the next meeting for consideration. <br /> <br /> An ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE CODE OF THE <br /> <br />CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1976, BY ADDING SECTIONS 10-56.1 and <br />16.-55.1 RELATING TO THE LICENSING AND PARKING OF VEHICLES BELONGING <br />TO MEMBERS OF THE CHARLOTTESVILLE VOLUNTEER FIRE COMPANY <br /> <br />THE CHARLOTTESVILLE-ALBEMARLE RESCUE SQUAD, INC.," which was offered <br />at the meeting of the Council on April 18, 1977, was adopted by the <br />following recorded vote. Ayes: Mr. Barbour, Mr. Fife, Mr. Gatewood <br />and Mrs. O'Brien. Noes: None. Absent: Mr. Brunton. <br /> <br /> A motion by Mr. Gatewood, seconded by Mr. Fife the Council meet <br /> <br />in executive session to discuss a matter exempted by Section 2.1-344(a)(1), <br />Section 2.1-344(a)(2), and Section 2.1-344(a)(6) of the Virginia <br />Freedom of Information Act, was adopted by the following recorded <br />vote. Ayes: Mr. Barbour, Mr. Fife, Mr. Gatewood and Mrs. O'Brien. <br />Noes: None. Absent: Mr. Brunton. <br /> <br /> On motion the meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />~ ~Clerk ~- <br /> <br />Regular meeting <br /> <br />Approval of minutes <br /> <br />Presentation re: <br />Urban Observatory - <br />911 Study <br /> <br />COUNCIL CHAMBER - MONDAY, MAY 16, 1977 <br /> <br /> The Council met in regular session on this date with the <br />following members present: Mr. Barbour, Mr. Fife, Mr. Gatewood <br />and Mrs. O'Brien. Absent: Mr. Brunton. <br /> <br />On motion by Mr. Barbour, seconded by Mr. Gatewood the <br />minutes of the meeting of May 9, 1977 were approves as presented. <br /> <br /> Mr. O. A. Gianniny, Jr. presented a feasibility study on a <br />proposed "911" Emergency Telephone System prepared by the Centmal <br />Piedmont Urban Observatory. He stated that this system consist <br />of a consolidated dispatch center for emergency communications <br />which directly dispatches personnel for all police agencies and <br />transfers calls to individual dispatch centers for all fire <br />agencies and the rescue squad. Any person dialing "911" will <br />thus be connected to a partially independent antonymous emergency <br />service agency which is capable of directly dispatching the <br />majority of emergency calls received and which can transfer an <br />incoming call to those agencies which feel the strong need for <br />maintaining close control and monitoring of the very specialized <br />and capable dispatchers. He stated that the present operating cost <br />of emergency services is approximately $11,000 per month and the <br />operating cost of the new system would be approximately thirteen <br /> <br /> <br />
