Appropriation - <br />$32,500 - Community <br />Attention Home <br /> <br />Appropriation - <br />$1700 - Summer <br />Concerts <br /> <br />Consideration re: <br />Appropriation , <br />$2,500 for Land- <br />marks Commission <br /> <br />Resolution re: <br />Bingo and Raffle <br />Permit - Westhaven <br />Tenant Assoc. <br /> <br />Resolution - <br />Authorizing the <br />City Manager to <br />apply for <br />administrative <br />funds for Transit <br />System <br /> <br /> E IT FURTHER<~SOLVED, that the s~s of $8,451, $3,863 and <br />$3,304 be and the sume "a~e hereby r..esPeCtiuety appropriated from the <br />Gas, Water and Sewer Funds to fund like increase~in salary and fringe <br />benefits costs for emp.!oyees paid from such funds. <br /> <br />26S <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the sum of $68,144 is hereby <br /> appropriated from the Grants Fund to the General Fund from federal <br /> monies received by the Grants Fund under Title II of the Public Works <br /> Employment Act of 1976, as amended by the Anti-Recession Fiscal <br /> Assistance Act of 1977, for the purposes set forth above. <br /> <br /> The resolution appropriating $32,500 for the Community At.tention <br /> Home, which was offered at the meeting of the Council on July 5, 1977, <br /> was adopted by the following recorded vote. Ayes: Mr. Barbour, Mr. <br /> Brunton, Mr. Fife, Mr. Gatewood and Mrs. O'Brien. Noes: None. <br /> <br /> The resolution appropriating $1700 for Summer Rock Concerts, which <br /> was offered at the meeting of the Council on July 5, 1977, was <br /> adopted by the following recorded vote. Ayes: Mr. Barbour, Mr.Fife, <br /> and~Mrs. O'Brien. Noes: Mr. Brunton and Mr. Gatewood.. <br /> <br /> Mr. Edward Lay, Chairman of the Historic Landmarks Commission, <br />addressed the Council and stated that the Commission had investigated <br />the possibility of obtaining volunteer assistance in performing the <br />research on buildings outside the ADC district. He stated that there <br />are more than 50 significant buildings outside the district identified <br />by the commission over the last six months. The commission has <br />determined that there are no qualified personnel available on a <br />volunteer basis through RSVP or United Way facilities. He stated that <br />the commission has revised its budget and is now requesting $2500 <br />from the Council. On motion by Mr. Fife, seconded by Mr. Brunton the <br />following resolution was offered and carried over to the next meeting <br />for consideration. <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville <br />that the sum of $2500.00 or as mcuh thereof as may be necessary, be <br />and the same is hereby m~appropriated from the contingency account <br />(01-91980) originally appropriated in the general fund budget for the <br />fiscal year beginning July 1, 1977, to the Department of Community <br />Development account 01-19010 for the purpose of hiring temporary <br />employees to assist the Landmarks Commission in ca~alogin§ .~ <br />historic buildings. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Barbour, seconded by Mr. Fife the following <br />resolution was unanimously adopted. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Westhaven Tenant Association has duly applied <br />for a permit to conduct raffles and bingo parties in compliance with <br />§17-19 of the Code of the City of Charlottesville, 1976, as amended, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it has been determined that the Westhaven Tenant <br />Association meets the qualifications as outlined in §17-19; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City <br />of Charlottesville that a permit be granted to ~the Westhaven Tenant <br />Association to Conduct raffles and bingo parties in accordance with all <br />the provisions of ~17-19 of the Code of the City of Charlottesville for <br />a period of one year from the date of this resolution; and <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the Council be directed <br />to send a copy of this resolution to the President of the Westhaven <br />Tenant Association. <br /> <br /> The City Manager advised the Council that he had been notified <br /> <br />bY the Virginia Department of Highways and Transportation that the City <br />is eligible to receive a Virginia Department of Highways and Transportation <br />Grant for administrative expenses of the Transit System. On motion by Mr. <br />Gatewood, seconded by Mr. Brunt0n the following resolution was unanimously <br />adopted. <br /> <br /> <br />
