O'Brien <br /> <br />TAKE NOTICE <br /> <br />A special meeting of the Council will be held Tonight <br /> <br />at Carver Center the 27th inst. at 7:30 p.m. O'clock. <br /> <br />A resolution requesting the Board of Supervisors of <br />Albemarle County to initiate a "Down" Zoning of <br />Properties adjacent to the South Rivanna Reservoir. <br /> <br />A resolution urging the Board of Supervisors to Down <br />Zone City owned property in the watershed areas of the <br />Sugar Hollow and Ragged Mountain Reservoirs. <br /> <br />o <br /> <br />Authorizing the Mayor to sign a lease for .Office space <br />for V.P.I. - S.U. Rush, Jr. (signed) <br /> Clerk <br /> <br />Nancy K.O'Brien (signed) <br /> President <br /> <br />Resolution re: <br />"Down" Zoning <br />of properties <br />adjacent to <br />South Rivanna <br />Reservoir <br /> <br />The Council met in special session on this date with the <br /> <br />following members present: Mr. Barbour, Mr. Brunton, Mr. <br /> <br />Fife, Mr. Gatewood and Mrs. O'Brien. Absent: None <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr.Fife, seconded by Mr. Barbour the following <br />resolution was unanimously adopted. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council has previously expressed to <br />the Board of Supervisors of Albemarle County its support <br />for the adoption of land use control measures to protect <br />the South Rivanna Reservoir and other community water supply <br />sources; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it has become increasingly apparent that <br />the protection of the South Rivanna Reservoir requires the <br />rezoning of immediately adjacent lands from their present <br />classifications to the CVN-Conservation District <br />classification under the Albemarle County Zoning Ordinance; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is the sense of this Council that such <br />a "down" zoning would be a valid and lawful exercise of the <br />County's police powers-, necessary and proper to protect an <br />essential public resource; now, therefore, be it <br /> <br /> RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Charlottes- <br />ville that the Board of Supervisors of Albemarle County be <br />requested immediately to initiage action to rezone all <br />properties adjacent to the South Rivanna Reservoir, up to <br />and including the first natural ridge line, from their present <br />classifications to the CVN-Conservation District <br />classification; and be it further <br /> <br /> RESOLVED, that the Council hereby expresses its <br />intention to authorize the City staff to provide assistance <br />to the County of Albemarle, and its willingness for the <br />City to participate, in any litigation necessary to <br />establish the validity of such rezoning action. <br /> <br />Resolution re: <br />"Down" Zoning <br />City owned <br />property in <br />watershed area <br />of Sugar Hollow <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Brunton, seconded by Mr. Fife the following <br />resolution was unanimously adopted. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council h~s on this date adopted a <br />resolution requesting the Board of Supervisors of Albemarle <br /> <br />and Ragged County to initiate a rezoning of certain properties to the <br />Mountain Reservoirs South Rivanna Reservoir; and <br /> <br /> <br />
