Mr. Bob Abbott, <br /> Director of the Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission, <br /> addressed the Council and explained that the Council could seek an <br /> Economic Development Area designation which would qualify only <br /> Charlottesville for~federal funds under the program or apply for an <br /> Economic Development District Classification which holds potential <br /> benefits for all six localities in the Thomas Jefferson Planning <br /> District. Mr. Hendrix stated that the staff recommends that the <br /> City not participate in area designations. After same discussion, <br /> this matter was carried over to a special meeting on November <br /> 10th for consideration. <br /> <br /> The Mayor stated~ that report.s to her indicate that Yard Sales are <br /> getting out of hand and ask if the Council w~shed to attempt to <br /> regulate these sales. Mr. Brunton stated that he had received complaints <br /> <br /> from merchants and also from neighborhoods. Action on this matter <br /> <br /> was deferred pending staff recommendations. <br /> <br /> A communication was presented from Yellow Cab Company requesting <br /> relief from the water conservation ordinance in order to wash its <br /> school buses and cabs. Action on this request was deferred pending <br /> a report from the Rivanna Water and Sewer Authority On the present <br /> status of water supply. <br /> <br /> Aubrey Coleman, operator of Albemarle~.Briek Cleaning Company <br />Alb. Brick Cleaning <br />Co. - appeal for addressed the Council and requested relief from the water <br /> conservation ordinance. He stated he company used water to clean <br /> bricks in new construction and without water his company would <br /> close. An ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND REORDAIN <br /> SECTION 2 OF THE ORDINANCE ADOPTED OCTOBER 7, 1977, AS SUBSEQUENTLY <br /> AMENDED, RELATING TO WATER CONSUMPTION," which was offered at the <br /> <br />_ meeting of the Council on October 17, 1977, was adopted by the <br /> following recorded vote. Ayes: Mr. Barbour, M_r. Brunton, Mr. <br /> Fife, Mr. Gatewoo~ and Mrs. O'Brien. Noes: None. <br /> <br /> The resolution appropriating $12,500 from the capital project <br />Appropriation re: <br />$12,500 City's <br />share of deposit fund as the City's share of a deposit on the purchase of the Downtown <br />on P. O. Bldg. Post Office Building, which was offered at the meeting of the <br /> <br /> Council on October 17, 1977, was adopted by the following recorded <br /> vote. Ayes: Mr. Barbour, Mr. Brunton,. Mr. Fife, Mr. Gatewood and <br /> Mrs. O'Brien. Noes: None. <br /> <br />Consideration re: On motion by Mr. Fife, seconded by Mr. Gatewood the following <br />Training Cood. <br />Appropriation resolution was offered and carried over to the next meeting for <br />$19,477 <br /> consideration. <br /> <br /> <br />
