REQUEST RE: <br />STATE HIGHWAY DEPT. <br />FOR STRIP OF LAND <br /> <br />ACCEPTANCE RE: <br />LANDONIA CIRCLE <br />INTO CITY ST. <br />SYSTEM <br /> <br />RESOLUTION RE: <br />HOLIDAY DRIVE <br /> <br />RESOLUTION RE: <br />FIRST STREET, N. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION RE: <br />REAL ESTATE TAX <br />ASSESSMENTS AND <br />APPRAISALS. <br /> <br />CONSIDERATION RE: <br />APPROPRIATION - <br />REAL ESTATE <br />ASSESSNENT <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, HIS EXEMPLARY SERVICE AND THE BRAVE ACTIONS WHICH LEAD TO HIS <br />DEATH HAVE BEEN AN INSPIRATION TO HIS FELLOW CITIZENS WHICH THIS COUNCIL DEEMS WORTHY <br />OF SPECIAL RECOGNITIONs NOW, I~HEREFORE, BE IT <br /> <br /> RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, THAT WE EXFRESS OUR <br />GRATITUDE FOR THE MANY CONTRIBUTIONS WHICH RODNEY WALDEN LEWIS MADE TO THE LIFE OF THIS <br />CITY AND OUR DEEP AND ABIDING SENSE OF LOSS AT THE TRAGIC END TO HIS PROMISING CAREER~ <br />AND BE IT FL~THER <br /> <br /> RESOLVED THAT THE CLERK OF THE COUNCIL BE DIRECTED TO SEND A COPY OF THIS <br /> RESOLUTION TO MR. LEWIS' FAMILY AS AN EXPRESSION OF OUR SYMPATHY. <br /> <br /> THE MAYOR ANNOUNCED THE APPOINTMENT OF MRS. RINEHART AND MR. VAN YAHRES TO A <br /> COMMITTEE TO EXPLORE A FUTURE USE FOR LANE, JEFFERSON AND MCGUFFEY SCHOOLS. <br /> <br /> THE CITY MANAGER ADVISED THE COUNCIL THAT THE STATE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT PLANS TO IMPROVE <br />ROUTE 659 FROM ITS INTERSECTION AT ROUTE 63! TO ITS END AND A STRIP OF LAND IS NEEDED <br /> <br />5' WIDE AND I50' LONG IN ORDER TO MAKE THIS IMPROVEMENT. HE RECOMMENDED THAT SINCE THIS <br /> <br />IS THE ROAD WHICH SERVES THE RIVANNA FILTER PLANT THAT THIS LAND BE DONATED IN ORDER THAT THE <br />IMPROVEMENTS BE MADE. ON MOTION BY MR. BARBOUR, SECONDED BY MR. VAN YAHRES THIS FOREGOING <br />RECOMMENDATION WAS UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED. <br /> <br />A COMMUNICATION WAS PRESENTED FROM THE ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT STATING THAT LANDONIA <br />CIRCLE HAS BEEN CONSTRUCTED TO MEET CITY SPECIFICATIONS AND RECOMMENDED THAT IT BE ACCEPTED <br />INTO THE CITY STREET SYSTEM FOR MAINTENANCE. ON MOTION BY MR. VANYAHRES, SECONDED BY MRS. <br />RINEHART THE FOREGOING RECOMMENDATION WAS UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED. <br /> <br /> ON MOTION BY MRS. RINEHART, SECONDED BY MR. BARBOUR TPE FOLLOWING RESOLUTION WAS <br />UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED. <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION APPOINTING VIEWERS TO CONSIDER A REQUEST FOR TPE VACATION OF A CERTAIN <br />PORTION OF HOLIDAY DRIVE. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, THIS COUNCIL HAS RECEIVED A PETITION REQUESTING VACATION OF THAT UNOPENED <br />PORTION OF HOLIDAY DRIVE RUNNING FROM THE WESTERLY BOUNDARY OF LOT C-4 DF ITS INTERSECTION <br />WITH HYDRAULIC ROAD AS SHOWN ON CITY TAX MAP 40A; AND <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, IT APPEARS TO COUNCIL THAT THE N(DTICES REQUIRED BY ~15.1-364 OF THE CODE <br />OF VIRGINIA (1950), AS AMENDED, HAVE BEEN DULY ROSTED~ <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE THAT <br />MESSRS. J. P. BORDEN, MASON S. BYRD AND LEE GREAVER BE AND THE SAME ARE HEREBY APPOINTED AS <br />VIEWERS TO VIEW SUCH STREET AND REPORT IN WRITING TO COUNCIL WHAT INCONVENIENCE, IF ANY, <br />WOULD RESULT FROM THE VACATION THEREOF. <br /> <br /> ON MOTION BY [AR. RUNNING BETWEEN PROPERTIES OWNED BY L. L. CUBBAGE, EUGENE D. <br />MARKOWSKI AND THE A~4ERICAN GREEK COMMUNITY; AND <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, IT APPEARS TO COUNCIL THAT THE NOTICES REQUIRED BY §15.1-364 OF THE CODE <br />OF VIRGINIA (I950), AS AMENDED, HAVE BEEN DULY POSTED; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE THAT <br />MESSRS. RINEHART THE FOLLOWING RESOLUTION WAS <br />UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, THE DECISION OF THE SUPREME COURT OF VIRGINIA IN THE CASE OF PERKINS V. <br />COUNTY OF ALBEMARLE HAS MANDATED CERTAIN CHANGES IN THE MET~DDOLOGY OF CONDUCTING ANNUAL <br />ASSESSMENTS OF REAL ESTATE IN CHARLOTTESVILLEI AND <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, THIS COUNCIL BELIEVES THAT THIS MANDATE CAN MOST FAIRLY AND EXPEDITIOUSLY <br />BE COMPLIED WITH BY CONDUCTING A COMPLETE REAPPRAISAL OF THE CITY'S REAL ESTATE DURING THE <br />NEXT YEAR~ <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, THAT <br />THE CITY ASSESSOR IS DIRECTED, IN MAKING HIS ANNUAL ASSESSMENT OF REAL ESTATE DURING THE <br />CALENDAR YEAR 1974, TO CONDUCT A PHYSICAL INSPECTION AND REAPPRAISAL OF EACH PARCEL OF LAND <br />IN THE CITY AND TO BASE THE ASSESSMENTS FOR 1975 REAL PROPERTY TAXES UPON SUCH NEW APPRAISAL~ <br /> <br /> AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT THE COUNCIL AUTHORIZE THE EMPLOYMENT OF SUCH <br />OUTSIDE ASSISTANCE AS MAY BE NECESSARY TO CONDUCT THIS REAPPRAISAL. <br /> <br /> ON MOTION BY MRS.
