NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CHARLOTTESVILLE CITY COUNCIL WILL BE HELD ON Monday, June 7, 2004 AT 6:00 p.m. IN THE Second Floor Conference Room. THE PROPOSED AGENDA IS AS FOLLOWS: Closed session as provided by Section 2.2 - 3172 of the Virginia Code BY ORDER OF THE MAYOR BY Jeanne Cox SECOND FLOOR CONFERENCE ROOM - June 7, 2004 Council met in special session on this date with the following members present: Mr. Caravati, Mr. Cox, Mr. Lynch, Ms. Richards, Mr. Schilling. On m otion by Mr. Caravati, seconded by Mr. Schilling, voted (Ayes: Mr. Caravati, Mr. Cox, Mr. Schilling. Noes: None. Absent for the vote: Mr. Lynch and Ms. Richards) to meet in closed session for discussion and consideration of prospective candidates for appointment to the City Council Elections Task Force, Board of Architectural Review and Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee; for the appointment of an Acting Director of Finance; and for the semi - annual performance evaluation of the City Manager, as authorized by Section 2.2 - 3711(A)(1) of the Virginia th Code; for discussion and consideration of the acquisition of real properties located at 7 and Market Streets, at Park and High Streets, and at 610 and 614 High Street for a public purpose, where discu ssion in an open meeting would adversely affect the negotiating strategy of the City, as authorized by Section 2.2 - 3711(A)(3) of the Virginia Code; and for discussion and consideration of the disposition of publicly held real property located th at Riverview Park, at 5 and Bering Street, and on Holmes Avenue (2 properties), where discussion in an open meeting would adversely affect the negotiating strategy of the City, as authorized by Section 2.2 - 3711(A)(3) of the Virginia Code. On motion by Mr. Caravati, seconded by Mr. Schilling, Council certified by the following vote (Ayes: Mr. Caravati, Mr. Cox, Mr. Lynch, Ms. Richards, Mr. Schilling. Noes: None) that to the best of each Council Member's knowledge, only public business matters lawfully exempted fro m the open meeting requirements of the Virginia Freedom of Information Act and identified in the motion convening the closed session were heard, discussed or considered in the closed session. AWARDS/RECOGNITIONS : NATIONAL HOMEOWNERSHIP MONTH; PARKS AND RECREATION MONTH Mr. Cox read the National Homeownership Month proclamation . Ms. Richards read the Park and Recreation Month proclamation PUBLIC Mr. Coran Capshaw of Albemarle County expressed his enthusiasm and commitment for the amphitheater project. He said it is an example of what makes this a great community and he loo ks forward to enhancing it and expanding its charitable base. Ms. Antoinette Rhodes, 406 Oak Street, said the impact of 60 houses proposed for the corner of Cherry and Ridge Street will have an immense impact on the creek, ravine and large specimen trees and will create water problems.
