SCRIBNER. <br />ABSENT: NONE, <br /> <br /> THE MINUTES OF THEMEETINGS OF APRIL 5~ 1965 AND APRIL 15~ 1965 WERE READ <br /> <br />AND APPROVED. <br /> <br /> AFTER A LENGTHY DISCUSSION OF THE SALES AND USE TAX ORDINANCE DURING WHICH <br /> <br />SEVERAL PEOPLE ADDRESSED THE COUNCIL URGING A DELAY IN THE EFFECTIVE DATE~ A <br />MOTION BY MR. PONTON~ THAT THE EFFECTIVE DATE BE CHANGED TO JANUARY 1~ 1966 DIED <br />FOR THE LACK OF A SECOND. A MOTION BY MR. HAGGERTY~ SECONDED BY MRo RENNOLDS THAT <br />THE ONE DOLLAR FEE IN SECTION 7 BE DELETED WAS UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED. A MOTION BY <br />MR. HAGGERTY~ SECONDED BY MR. SCRIBNER THAT THE EFFECTIVE DATE BE CHANGED TO <br />SEPTEMBER 1~ 1965 WAS UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED. MR. HAGGERTY SUGGESTED THAT THE <br />MERCHANTS BE URGED TO KEEP RECORDS ON THE COST OF COLLECTING THE TAX AND REPORT <br /> <br />TO THE COUNCIL AFTER THE FIRST YEAR.
