AVENUE WAS REFERRED TO THE STREET COMMITTEE <br />FOR RECOMMENDATION. <br /> TWO PETITIONS FOR REZONING ON FONTAINE AVENUE WERE REFERRED TO THE PLANNING <br />COMMISSION FOR RECOMMENDATION. <br /> THE COMMITTEE APPOINTED TO STUDY AND MAKE RECOMMENDATIONS CONCERNING THE <br />REQUEST FOR A BUS FARE INCREASE AND ADJUSTMENTS IN SCHEDUL~ REPORTED THAT THEY <br />HAD DISCUSSED THIS PETITION AND CONCLUDED THAT AN INCREASE IN BUS FARES IS <br /> <br />NECESSARY IN ORDER FOR CONTINUED BUS SERVICE TO BE PROVIDED AND ALSO RECOMMENDED <br /> <br />THAT THE REQUESTED CHANGES IN ROUTES BE GRANTED. ON MOTION BY HR, JOHNSON~ <br /> <br />SECONDED BY HR. VOGT~ THE FOLLOWING RESOLUTION WAS UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED: <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, THE DULY APPOINTED COMMITTEE HAS MET WITH HR. d. H., AND <br /> <br /> WHEREAS~ PURSUANT TO SECTION 2 OF AN ORDINANCE ADOPTED APRIL 9~ 1964 <br /> <br />ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE GRANTING THE RIGHT TO OPERATE BUSES FOR THE TRANSPORTATION <br /> <br />OF PASSENGERS ON CERTAIN STREETS IN THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE~ VIRGINIA TO J. <br /> <br />T. GRAVES AND HIS SOLELY OWNED CORPORATION~ THE YELLOW CAB AND TRANSIT COHPANY" <br /> <br />REQUIRES APPROVAL OF ROUTE CHANGES AND SCHEDULES BY COUNClL~ AND <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, IT IS THE OPINION OF COUNCIL THAT THE ROUTE CHANGES AND <br /> <br />SCHEDULE CHANGES PROPOSED BY HR. GRAVES ARE REASONABLE~ <br /> <br /> NOW~ THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> <br />CHARLOTTESVILLE~ THIS COUNCIL DOES HEREBY APPROVE THE ROUTE CHANGES AS SHOWN <br /> <br />ON A MAP HERETO ATTACHED AND MADE A PART OF THIS RESOLUTION AND DOES FURTHER <br /> <br />APPROVE THE CANCELLATION OF THE LOCUST AVENUE BUS WEST FROM 7TH STREET AFTER <br /> <br />6:30 P. T. <br />GRAVES AND HIS SOLELY OWNED CORPORATION, THE YELLOW CAB AND TRANSIT COMPANY" <br /> <br />WAS OFFERED BY MR. MOUNT~ SECONDED BY MR, JOHNSON, AND CARRIED OVER TO THE NEXT <br />MEETING FOR CONSIDERATION. <br /> <br /> A REPORT WAS PRESENTED'FROM THE CITY MANAGER RECOMMENDING THAT THE REQUEST OF <br />FARMiNGTON TO EXTEND ITS WATER LINE TO SERVE 73 ADDITIONAL LOTS IN FARMINGTON WEST <br />BE GRANTED WITH ~HE UNDERSTANDING THAT THE CiTY IS IN NO WAY OBLIGATED TO PROVIDE <br />ADEQUATE PRESSURE OR QUANTI'TY TO ANY OF THE CUSTOMERS ON THE FARMINGTON LINE. ON <br />MOTION BY MR. MOUNT~ SECONDED BY MRo VOGT~ THE FOREGOING RECOMMENDATION WAS UNANIMOUS- <br />LY ADOPTED. <br /> <br /> THE FOLLOWING REPORT OF TH~ STREET COMMITTEE WAS PRESENTED: <br /> <br /> NOVEMBER 30~ 1966 <br /> <br />MEMBERS OF THE COUNCIL <br />CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE~ VIRGINIA <br /> <br />GENTLEMEN: <br /> <br /> (A) YOUR STREET COMMITTEE HAS CONSIDERED THE PETITION DATED NOVEMBER 17, <br />1966 FROM BUFORD PTA AND REPORTS AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> (1) A SIDEWALK HAS ALREADY BEEN INSTALLED ON CHERRY AVENUE FROM <br /> 9TH STREET TO WARE STREET AND THE CITY PLANS TO EXTEND THIS <br /> WORK ON TO AVON STREET AS SOON AS SLOPE EASEMENTS, ETC. CAN <br /> BE OBTAINED. <br /> <br /> (2) YOUR COMMITTEE DOES NOT AGREE WITH THE REQUEST THAT THE SPEED <br /> LIMIT BETWEEN SCHOOL SIGNS BE REDUCED FROM 25 MILES TO 15 MILES. <br /> GOOD VISION EXISTS BETWEEN THESE SIGNS AND A SPEED LIMIT OF 15 <br /> MILES PER HOUR WOULD NOT BE RESPECTED. <br /> <br /> (3) THE STREET DEPARTMENT WILL~ UNLESS OBJECTED TO BY THE SCHOOL <br /> <br /> <br />
