ON STRIBLiNG AVENUE BE DENIED. A PUBLIC HEARING WAS <br /> <br />SET FOR APRIL 22~ 1968 AT 7:30 P, Mo:.AT THE CITY COURT HOUSE TO CONSIDER THIS REQUEST. <br /> ON MOTION BY MR, MOUNT~ SECONDED BY MR. RINEHART~ THE FOLLOWING RESOLUTION WAS <br /> <br /> WHEREAS~ THE PROPERTY OWNERS OWNING ABUTTING PROPERTY ON PORTIONS Of A <br />CERTAIN ALLEY IN THE ROSE HILL SUBDIVISION AREA AS HEREINAFTER DESCRIBED7 HAVE <br /> <br />REQUESTED THAT A PORTION OF SUCH ALLEY BE CLOSED~ AND <br /> <br /> WHEREAS~ THE CITY PLANNING COMHISSION B.Y REPORT TO COUNCIL DATED MARCH 13~ <br /> <br />1968~ HAS RECOMMENDED SUCH CLOSING7 AND <br /> <br /> WHEREAS~ THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE IS WILLING TO CLOSE <br /> <br />AND VACATE THE ALLEY ACCORDING TO THE PLANNING COMMISSIONTS RECOMMENDATION AS <br /> <br />HEREINAFTER DESCRIBED~ <br /> <br /> NOW~ THEREFORE~ BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CiTY OF CHARLOTTES- <br /> <br />VILLE THAT A PORTION OF THE ALLEY LOCATED iN BLOCK 27 OF THE ROSE HILL SUB- <br /> <br />DIVISION AS SHOWN ON A SKETCH OF THE PLANNING DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF <br /> <br />CHARLOTTESVILLE, DATED MARCH 18~ 1968~ WHICH IS HERETO ATTACHED AND IN- <br /> <br />CORPORATED BY REFERENCE, BE AND THE SANE 1S HEREBY CLOSED AND VACATED; AND <br /> <br />PROVIDED FURTHER THAT THIS VACATION SHALL NOT EXTINGUISH EXISTING UTILITY <br /> <br />LINE EASEMENTS FOR TELEPHONE~ ELECTRIC AND To ~. RtNEHART~ THE FOLLOWING RESOLUTION WAS UNANIMOUSLY <br /> <br />ADOPTED: <br /> <br /> WHEREAS~ THE HOUSING ADVISORY COMMITTEE APPOINTED BY THE CiTY COUNCIL <br /> <br />HAS STUDIED THE HOUSING PROBLEMS OF CHARLOTTESVILLE FOR THE LAST YEAR AND A <br /> <br />HALF~ AND <br /> <br /> WHEREAS¢ THE HOUSING ADVISORY COMMITTEE HAS INFORMED THE COUNCIL THAT <br /> <br />THE COMMITTEE~ DURING ITS'STUDY~ HAS NOTED A STRONG FEELING AMONG THE CitiZENS <br /> <br />OF CHARLOTTESVILLE THAT THE COUNCIL SHOULD~ BY RESOLUTION) RECOGNIZE THE RIGHT <br /> <br />OF EVERY PERSON~ REGARDLESS OF RACED COLOR~ CREED OR NATIONAL ORIGIN~ TO BUY~ <br /> <br />RENT OR BUILD A HOME IN THE AREA OF HIS CHOICE~ CONSISTENT WITH HIS ABILITY TO <br /> <br />PAYj AND <br /> <br /> WHEREAS~ THE CITYCOUNCIL OF CHARLOTTESVILLE DOES RECOGNIZE THiS <br /> <br />FUNDAMENTAL RIGHT~ AND <br /> <br /> ~HEREAS, THE CiTY COUNCIL S~PPORTS AND TAKES PRIDE IN THE EFFORTS OF <br /> <br />INDIVIDUALS AND GROUPS iN THIS City TO SEEK EQUALITY OF OPPORTUNITY FOR ALL <br /> <br />AND TO IMPROVE UNDERSTANDING AND COOPERATION AMONG DIFFERENT GROUPS IN OUR <br /> <br /> <br />
