<br /> 107 <br />NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING <br /> <br />A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CHARLOTTESVILLE CITY COUNCIL WILL BE <br />HELD ON Monday, April 3, 2006 AT 6:45 p.m. IN THE Second Floor Conference <br />Room. <br /> <br />THE PROPOSED AGENDA IS AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> Closed session as provided by Section 2.2-3712 of the Virginia Code <br /> <br />BY ORDER OF THE MAYOR BY Jeanne Cox <br /> <br />SECOND FLOOR CONFERENCE ROOM – April 3, 2006 <br /> <br /> Council met in special session on this date with the following members present: <br />Dr. Brown, Mr. Caravati, Ms. Hamilton, Mr. Lynch, Mr. Schilling. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Caravati, seconded by Mr. Schilling, Council voted (Ayes: Dr. <br />Brown, Mr. Caravati, Ms. Hamilton, Mr. Schilling. Noes: None. Absent for the vote: <br />Mr. Lynch) to meet in closed session for discussion or consideration of the disposition by <br />lease of publicly held real property between Water Street and South Street, where <br />discussion in an open meeting would adversely affect the negotiating strategy of the City, <br />as authorized by Section 2.2-3711(A)(3) of the Virginia Code; and consultation with <br />legal counsel regarding the settlement of a pending personal injury lawsuit involving the <br />City’s right of subrogation, as authorized by Section 2.2-3711(A)(7) of the Virginia <br />Code. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Schilling, seconded by Ms. Hamilton, Council certified by the <br />following vote (Ayes: Dr. Brown, Mr. Caravati, Ms. Hamilton, Mr. Lynch, Mr. <br />Schilling. Noes: None) that to the best of each Council Member's knowledge, only <br />public business matters lawfully exempted from the open meeting requirements of the <br />Virginia Freedom of Information Act and identified in the motion convening the closed <br />session were heard, discussed or considered in the closed session. <br /> <br />COUNCIL CHAMBER – April 3, 2006 <br /> <br /> Council met in regular session on this date with the following members present: <br />Dr. Brown, Mr. Caravati, Ms. Hamilton, Mr. Lynch, Mr. Schilling. <br /> <br />ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> <br /> Mr. Caravati said he will bring up an issue related to sister cities during Other <br />Business. <br /> <br />AWARDS/RECOGNITIONS <br />: FAIR HOUSING MONTH; BOYS AND GIRLS <br />CLUB PROCLAMATION <br /> <br /> Dr. Brown said that earlier in the day he had proclaimed Boys and Girls Club <br />Month. <br /> <br /> Dr. Brown read the Fair Housing Month proclamation. <br /> <br />PUBLIC <br /> <br /> Ms. Tatyana Patton, 2209 Jefferson Park Avenue, said that the Earth Day Festival <br />will be held in Meade Park on April 22. She said the goal is to have the City as a co- <br />sponsor, but Parks and Recreation has elected not to be a partner or a co-sponsor. She <br />said she thinks the Festival should be considered a community event and she asked <br />Council to waive the fees. She also asked that the decision restricting access to the <br />restrooms be revisited as well as the decision reducing the number of tables from 60 to <br />30. <br /> <br /> <br />
