<br />NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING <br /> <br />A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CHARLOTTESVILLE CITY COUNCIL WILL BE <br />HELD ON Monday, June 16, 2008 AT 6:00 p.m. IN THE Second Floor Conference <br />Room. <br /> <br />THE PROPOSED AGENDA IS AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> Closed session as provided by Section 2.2-3712 of the Virginia Code <br /> <br />BY ORDER OF THE MAYOR BY Jeanne Cox <br /> <br />SECOND FLOOR CONFERENCE ROOM – June 16, 2008 <br /> <br /> Council met in special session on this date with the following members present: <br />Dr. Brown, Ms. Edwards, Mr. Huja, Mr. Norris, Mr. Taliaferro. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Taliaferro, seconded by Dr. Brown, Council voted (Ayes: Dr. <br />Brown, Ms. Edwards, Mr. Huja, Mr. Norris, Mr. Taliaferro. Noes: None.) to meet in <br />closed session for discussion and consideration of the acquisition of certain real property <br />for a public purpose, and the disposition of publicly held real property, where discussion <br />in an open meeting would adversely affect the bargaining position and negotiating <br />strategy of the City, as authorized by Section 2.2-3711(A)(3); for consultation with legal <br />counsel regarding the negotiation of the terms and conditions of a water supply plan cost <br />sharing agreement with the Albemarle County Service Authority, as authorized by <br />Section 2.2-3711(A)(7); and for a performance evaluation of the City Manager, as <br />authorized by Section 2.2-3711(A)(1) of the Virginia Code. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Taliaferro, seconded by Mr. Huja, Council certified by the <br />following vote (Ayes: Dr. Brown, Ms. Edwards, Mr. Huja, Mr. Norris, Mr. Taliaferro. <br />Noes: None) that to the best of each Council Member's knowledge, only public business <br />matters lawfully exempted from the open meeting requirements of the Virginia Freedom <br />of Information Act and identified in the motion convening the closed session were heard, <br />discussed or considered in the closed session. <br /> <br />COUNCIL CHAMBER – June 16, 2008 <br /> <br /> Council met in regular session on this date with the following members present: <br />Dr. Brown, Ms. Edwards, Mr. Huja, Mr. Norris, Mr. Taliaferro. <br /> <br />ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> <br /> Mr. Norris announced that there will be a free concert on July 3 with the U. S. <br />th <br />National Guard Band, and activities are scheduled for the 4 of July in McIntire Park. <br />He said Movies in Meade Park is starting. He said a new trails map is now available. <br /> <br /> Mr. O’Connell said that the City has received a AAA bond rating again from both <br />rating agencies. <br /> <br /> Mr. Norris thanked the City Manager and staff for continued good management. <br /> <br /> Mr. Taliaferro congratulated the SWAT team of the Police Department for <br />receiving honors at a recent SWAT team event. <br /> <br /> Mr. Huja said that the Municipal Band is now performing for free at the <br />Paramount Theater. <br /> <br /> Ms. Edwards said that the QCC walking program will continue this summer. <br /> <br /> Dr. Brown thanked Jessica Nagle and Michael Nichols for putting on the Festival <br />of the Photograph. <br /> <br /> <br />
