NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CHARLOTTESVILLE CITY COUNCIL WILL BE HELD ON Monday, June 16, 2008 AT 6:00 p.m. IN THE Second Floor Conference Room. THE PROPOSED AGENDA IS AS FOLLOWS: Closed session as provided by Section 2.2-3712 of the Virginia Code BY ORDER OF THE MAYOR BY Jeanne Cox SECOND FLOOR CONFERENCE ROOM – June 16, 2008 Council met in special session on this date with the following members present: Dr. Brown, Ms. Edwards, Mr. Huja, Mr. Norris, Mr. Taliaferro. On motion by Mr. Taliaferro, seconded by Dr. Brown, Council voted (Ayes: Dr. Brown, Ms. Edwards, Mr. Huja, Mr. Norris, Mr. Taliaferro. Noes: None.) to meet in closed session for discussion and consideration of the acquisition of certain real property for a public purpose, and the disposition of publicly held real property, where discussion in an open meeting would adversely affect the bargaining position and negotiating strategy of the City, as authorized by Section 2.2-3711(A)(3); for consultation with legal counsel regarding the negotiation of the terms and conditions of a water supply plan cost sharing agreement with the Albemarle County Service Authority, as authorized by Section 2.2-3711(A)(7); and for a performance evaluation of the City Manager, as authorized by Section 2.2-3711(A)(1) of the Virginia Code. On motion by Mr. Taliaferro, seconded by Mr. Huja, Council certified by the following vote (Ayes: Dr. Brown, Ms. Edwards, Mr. Huja, Mr. Norris, Mr. Taliaferro. Noes: None) that to the best of each Council Member's knowledge, only public business matters lawfully exempted from the open meeting requirements of the Virginia Freedom of Information Act and identified in the motion convening the closed session were heard, discussed or considered in the closed session. COUNCIL CHAMBER – June 16, 2008 Council met in regular session on this date with the following members present: Dr. Brown, Ms. Edwards, Mr. Huja, Mr. Norris, Mr. Taliaferro. ANNOUNCEMENTS Mr. Norris announced that there will be a free concert on July 3 with the U. S. th National Guard Band, and activities are scheduled for the 4 of July in McIntire Park. He said Movies in Meade Park is starting. He said a new trails map is now available. Mr. O’Connell said that the City has received a AAA bond rating again from both rating agencies. Mr. Norris thanked the City Manager and staff for continued good management. Mr. Taliaferro congratulated the SWAT team of the Police Department for receiving honors at a recent SWAT team event. Mr. Huja said that the Municipal Band is now performing for free at the Paramount Theater. Ms. Edwards said that the QCC walking program will continue this summer. Dr. Brown thanked Jessica Nagle and Michael Nichols for putting on the Festival of the Photograph.
