Rev. Edwards. Ms. Slaughter. Mr roscano. Absent: Mr. Vandever. <br /> <br /> Ms. Kathy Johnson-Harfis, lead teacher at.the AJt.~-n~tive School provided a repo~ on <br />the status of the school.. There are currently 29 students at- thesc;hooi3 with two additional <br />expected-soon_ Eleven-students are in their second year at the A_ltemative School and seven <br />who were e_n_rolled kast year returned to Charlottesville _-~gh School. <br /> <br /> Responding _to a. question from Mr-~. Toscano,~ Ms~. Joh_n~on-Harfis said the Alternative <br />School could handle up m 60 students with. fiexJbie scb_eduling. <br /> <br /> Respondin~gto a question from Ms. Slaughter about students at the A!termtive School <br />last year, but not this year, Mr~ Johm~son-Harris said. that some were suspended from the <br />program; some moved to Albemarle County, and some are incarcerated. Dr. Dorothea <br />Sharon_on, Superintendent of Schools, said she wilt provide Council with exact _nJ~mbers. <br /> <br /> Responding to a question from Mr. Toscano about evaluating the success of the <br />program, Dr, Sharmon said that there were a series of meetings last year with the Alternative <br />School advisory_ council (made of up agency represents and parents) and parents, and <br />changes were made as a resu!t. Dr. Shannon said that the advisory cmmciJ will meet <br />throughout the year to evaluate the program. <br /> <br /> Mr~ Ron Hutchinson,. City School administrative sta~} stated that 4,442 students were <br />projected to er~rolJ in City Schools and 4,380 are cu~ently e-n_roil_md. <br /> <br /> Dr. Shannon said the City Schools could lose up to $ ! 04,000 in State funding <br />enrollment does not increase. <br /> <br /> Dr. Shan_r~on distributed copies of the latest version of the Schooi's Strategic Plan and <br />said the Schools are in the process of holding public forms on the Plan. <br /> <br />The meeting was a.djou~ed. <br /> <br />President <br /> <br /> <br />
