105 <br /> <br />Mr. Vandever stated that he continues to be concerned about the assumptions made. <br /> <br /> Mr. Toscano expressed concern about the ability to afford the expansion and stated that <br />he would like to have more information and more alternatives provided. <br /> <br /> Mr. Puckett explained that architectural expenses of between $250,000 and $400,000 <br />could be at risk before final reimbursement is approval by the state. <br /> <br /> It was agreed that a smaller group of staff and elected officials would meet to further <br />discuss the'expansion project. <br /> <br /> The meeting was adjourned. <br />President <br /> <br />COUNCIL CHAMBER- December 19, 1994 <br /> <br /> Council met in special session on this date with the following members present: Ms. <br />Daugherty, Rev. Edwards, Ms. Slaughter, Mr. Toscano. Absent: Mr. Vandever <br /> <br />PUBLIC <br /> <br /> Mr. William Atwood, a local architect, former City School Board member, and current <br />Albemarle County resident, urged Council to reopen discussions on the proposed grade <br />separated interchanges on Route 29 North and to convene a meeting of the Council, Board of <br />Super~4sors and representatives from the Virginia Department of Transportation to discuss <br />the matter. Mr. Atwood stated that he feels the interchanges, if built, will be disastrous for <br />the City. <br /> <br /> Mr. Toscano agreed that more discussion on the proposed interchanges and their <br />potential impacts on the City is needed. Mr. Toscano stated that a public session on the issue <br />is likely to be held in January. <br /> <br />CONSENT AGENDA <br /> <br /> On motion by Ms. Slaughter, seconded by Ms. Daugherty, the following consent <br />agenda items were approved, with Rev: Edwards abstaining from voting on the minutes of <br />December 5th and Mr. Vandever absent. <br /> <br />a. Minutes of December 5 <br /> <br />b. APPROPRIATION: $36,922 - Independent Living Grant (2nd reading) <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia, that the <br />sum of $36,922.00, awarded as a joint grant to the Greene County, Albemarle County and <br />Charlottesville Departments of Social Services from the Virginia Department of Social <br />Services, is hereby appropriated to expenditure account 12-61-062279 to fund the <br />Independent Living Coordinator position for fiscal year 1995. The Independent Living <br />Program is an interagency venture which teaches life skills to older teens in foster care. <br /> <br />c. APPROPRIATION: $39,345 - Continuation of Project ADAPT (2nd reading) <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia that the sum <br />of $39,345.00, to be received from the Virginia Department of Social Services, is hereby <br />appropriated to expenditure 12-161-062240 to fund a staff person to assist in the <br />development of Project ADAPT. <br /> <br /> <br />
