Edwards, Ms. <br />Slaughter, Mr. Toscano, Mr. Vandever. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE: IMPOSING UTILITY TAX ON "WIRELESS" CABLE TELEVISION <br />SUBSCRIBERS <br /> <br /> Mr. Clyde Gouldman, City Attorney, presented a proposed <br />ordinance which would impose a 10% utility tax on <br />Charlottesville Quality Cable Corporation subscribers in the <br />same manner that Adelphia Cable subscribers are taxed. Mr. <br />Gouldman explained that the franchise agreement with Adelphia <br />set a deadline of October 5th for the Council to act upon <br />this matter and therefore a first reading of the ordinance <br />could be held at this special meeting, with an opportunity <br />for public comment and the second reading to be scheduled for <br />the regular October 5th meeting. <br /> <br /> On motion by Rev. Edwards, seconded by Mr. Toscano, the <br />ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND REORDAIN <br />SECTION 30-221 OF ARTICLE VIII OF CHAPTER 30 OF THE <br />CHARLOTTESVILLE CITY CODE, 1990, AS AMENDED, RELATED TO <br />TAXATION OF CABLE TELEVISION SERVICE" was offered and carried <br />over to the next meeting for consideration. <br /> <br /> It was agreed that a public hearing on the proposed <br />ordinance would be held at the October 5th meeting. <br /> <br />  <br />was adjourned. <br />President <br /> <br />rk ' ~ <br /> <br /> <br />
