Sunset Avenue, expressed concern that the City's newly <br />announced Public Iv_formation Officer lives in the Cot;my, and posed the fbiiowi.'_ng questions: <br />1) is this the best way to spend money; 2) is it legal to have offered a higher salary than what <br />was advertised; 3) what efibrt was made to find qualified City residents fbr the position; and <br />4) how credible can a spokesperson be for the City when they live in the County? <br /> <br /> Ms. Betty Siegner, 20! Sunset Avenue, said she was shocked and dismayed when she <br />read that the Public Information Officer position was given to a County resident which she <br />f~eis shows a great lack of' sensitivity. Ms. Siegner said that she f~.eis people were mislead by <br />the advertisement for the position, and the interests of City residents should be put first. Ms. <br />Siegner said that she f~e!s the job should be readvertised at the range being of~red. <br /> <br /> Ms. Erin Garvey, 624 Davis Avenue, Chair of the Charlottesville PTO Council, spoke <br />in support of the hiring of Cass Cannon as the City's Public Int'ormation Officer. Ms. Garvey <br />said that she participated on the interview panel for the position and f~is Ms. Cannon is <br />more than qualified. Ms. Garvey said the position is professional and therefore the persoffs <br />qualifications are the most important fhctor. <br /> <br /> Ms. Martha Levering, 815 Orangedale _Avenue, President of the Federation of <br />Neighborhood Associations, speaking for herself} said that she was part of the interview <br /> <br /> <br />
