It was recommended that the Mayor convene a meeting with landlords of property suspected of housing illegal activities after consultation with staff. It was recommended that the State delegates be contacted regarding the status of issues remaining from previous Council legislative packages. Ms. Slaughter recommended that incentives be explored for offering second story housing downtown and Mr. Hendrix explained that the Director of Economic Development is currently working on a pilot project involving such housing. Ms. Slaughter recommended that the City contact CSX executives to further negotiate exempting height regulations for the replacement of the Ridge Street Bridge and Rev. Edwards stated that he has in the process of setting up such a meeting. Ms. Slaughter recommended that the City further explore putting bike lanes between downtown and the University. The possibility of holding a work session with the Social Development Commission was discussed which could include affirmative action issues raised concerning the police department as well as city wide. ent f ourned. Edwards presented the cast and director of the Arts Alive: Theatre for Young People's production of "Kids Only" with a resolution congratulating them on the success of their performances.
