62 <br /> <br />demonstration of City vehicles and equipment on the downtown <br />mall, a reception honoring former council members and <br />persons serving on council-appointed boards and commissions, <br />and a musical salute to the celebration presented by <br />community groups at the Charlottesville High School <br />Performing Arts Center. <br /> <br /> It was the consensus of Council for staff to proceed <br />with the plans for the celebration. <br /> <br /> Mrs. Gleason stated that she favored appropriating <br />funds to install additional street lighting in the downtown <br />area at the next meeting. <br /> <br /> Mr. Towe requested that radar be placed on North Avenue <br />due to increased speeding traffic in that area. Dr. Cibbarelli stated that he was still hopeful <br />that the City would receive additional State funding and <br />noted that approximately 80 of 130 school systems appear to <br />have been financially hurt by the new State funding formula. <br /> <br /> Mr. John Pezzoli, Chairman of the School Board, stated <br />that the School Board intended to adopt the School budget on <br />February 18th and present it to City Council on March 7th. <br /> <br /> Dr. Cibbarelli recommended that City Council write to <br />the Governor, State representatives, and the Secretary of <br />Education requesting additional funding for Charlottesville. <br /> <br /> <br />
