GAS FUND APPROPRIATION <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, that there is hereby <br />appropriated from the Gas Fund, for the operation of the gas utility during the fiscal year <br />beginning July 1, 1998 and ending June 30, 1999, the sum of $22,260,574, or the amount of <br />revenue actually received by such fund, whichever is the greater amount. Such appropriation <br />shall be effective July 1, 1998. <br /> <br />XIII. WATER FUND APPROPRIATION <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, that there is hereby <br />appropriated from the Water Fund, for the operation of the water utility during the fiscal year <br />beginning July 1, 1998 and ending June 30, 1999, the sum of $4, t36,123, or the amount of <br />revenue actually received by such fund, whichever is the greater amount. Such appropriation <br />shall be effective July 1, 1998. <br /> <br />XIV. WASTEWATER FUND APPROPRIATION <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, that there is hereby <br />appropriated from the Wastewater Fund, for the operation of the wastewater utility during <br />the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1998 and ending June 30, 1999, the sum of $3,546,093, or <br />the amount of revenue actually received by such fund, whichever is the greater amount. Such <br />appropriation shall be effective July 1, 1998. <br /> <br /> Mr. Toscano arrived late and indicated that while he was absent for the vote on the <br />budget, he did support its passage. <br /> <br />The meeting was adjourned. <br /> <br />COUNCIL CHAMBER - April 20, 1998 <br /> <br /> Council met in regular session on this date with the following members present: Ms. <br />Daugherty, Ms. Richards, Ms. Slaughter, Mr. Toscano. Absent: Mr. Cox. <br /> <br />PUBLIC <br /> <br /> Mr. Brent Nelson, South Street, said that residents of South Street are expressing <br />problems with noise and recommended that Council establish a committee made up of staff, <br />residents and business owners to address the issue. <br /> <br /> Mr. James King, 2607 Jefferson Park Circle, asked what the principle was for <br />establishing the invitation list and African-Americans invited for the recent trip to <br />Chattanooga, and asked if scholarships were given for the trip. <br /> <br /> Ms. Kate Leiland, 110 W. Main Street, said that she lives a few doors down from the <br />Jewish Mother and recommended that soundproofing be added to reduce the noise. Ms. <br />Leiland asked if the City has made any progress in seeking solutions to the noise problems. <br />Ms. Leiland said the noise problem has worsened since entertainment has moved into an <br />established business and residential area. <br /> <br /> Mr. Arthur Tinsley, 2512 Willard Drive, expressed concern about Sprint's £ecent <br />closing of its local office and said that he has nOt experienced good customer service in <br />attempting to deal with a shut-off notice he received, and asked Council to write to Sprint <br />about the matter. <br /> <br /> <br />
