Noes: None.) to a two-year term as the joint City-County appointee to the <br />Rivanna Water and Sewer Authority and the Rivanna Solid Waste Authority. Absent: Mr. Cox. <br /> <br />RECOGNITIONS/AWARDS <br /> <br /> Ms. Daugherty announced that three Charlottesville High School students, Curtis <br />Brown, Terry Godfrey, and Ed Smith, have been working at the Music Resource Center <br />and have made a CD. Ms. Daugherty also thanked John Hornsby and other adults for <br />their work with the Center. <br /> <br /> Ms. Daugherty announced that Marion Barry will be the guest speaker at the <br />Martin Luther King, Jr. Day celebration at Charlottesville Performing Arts Center on <br />January 17th. <br /> <br />PUBLIC <br /> <br /> Ms. Anne Hemenway, 800 Park Street, speaking on behalf of the North <br />Downtown Residents Association, updated Council on the status of traffic calming <br />proposals presented by the neighborhood for Park Street: speed reduction; curb jut-outs; <br />crosswalks; and parking shifts, with the goal of restoring Park Street to a more residential <br />character. In addition, Ms. Hemenway said that the neighborhood favors better lighting, <br />better bus stops, and undergrounding of utilities. Ms. Hemenway supported the <br />ordinance on the agenda banning trucks north of the bypass on Park Street and the speed <br />limit reduction. Ms. Hemenway added that the neighborhood also supports a ban on <br />trucks on Park Street between the 250 Bypass and High Street. <br /> <br /> Ms. Camille Wilson, GreenleafLane and Chair of the Parks Advisory Committee, <br />requested additional funding to bring three park projects, Washington Park, Belmont <br />Park and Greenbrier Park, to completion. <br /> <br /> Mr. Peter Mclntosh, Davis Avenue, announced that a meeting, requested by <br />residents of Rio Road, will be held on January 7th at the County Office Building, and <br />Highway Commissioner David Gehr will be available to answer questions about the <br />Meadowcreek Parkway. Mr. Ivlclntosh said that he also agrees with restricting trucks on <br />Park Street south of the 250 Bypass. <br /> <br /> Mr. Coy Barefoot, 716 Mclntire Road, Chairman of the Historic Resources Task <br />Force, announced that on January 23rd a design charette will be held on the Historic Court <br />Square Initiative, and suggested that TEA 21 funding could possibly be used for these <br />improvements. <br /> <br /> <br />
