MINUTES <br /> <br />City of Charlottesville Electoral Board <br />Meeting of December 14, 2016 <br /> <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by the chair at 5:35 p.m. in the office of the General <br />Registrar. Those present were Electoral Board members Anne Hemenway (Chair) Jon <br />Bright (Vice Chair) and Jim Nix (Secretary), General Registrar Rosanna Bencoach, <br />Assistant Registrar Melissa Morton and Assistant Registrar Patrick Cory. <br /> <br />On a motion by the chair, the agenda was approved unanimously without change. <br /> <br />On a motion by the chair, the minutes of the November 8-14 meeting were approved <br />unanimously with two small changes. <br /> <br />November 8 election review <br /> <br />The only significant item on the agenda for this meeting was a discussion of matters <br />pertaining to improving Officer of Election training and preparations for the upcoming <br />2017 elections. The three board members summarized their views on the conduct of <br />the recent election and presented ideas for suggested improvements to be implemented <br />in 2017. The chair will consolidate these comments into a document to be presented at <br />the next meeting. <br /> <br />At 6:05 p.m. the meeting was moved to the City Hall basement conference room where <br />the board joined the assembled Chief Election Officers and additional members of the <br />staff for further discussions on the preparation for, and execution of, the recent General <br />Election. While the comments at this meeting, chaired by Assistant Registrar Melissa <br />Morton, were largely positive there were some suggestions for changes to pre-election <br />training and for the timely preparation and dissemination of election materials to the <br />precincts. <br /> <br />Next Meeting <br /> <br />The next meeting of the Board will take place on a date yet to be determined in January <br />2017. <br /> <br />The meeting was adjourned at 7:50 p.m. <br /> <br /> <br />Respectfully submitted: <br />
