A MOTION BY HR, FIFE~ SECONDED BY MR. DAVlS~ THAT BASED ON <br />INADEQUATE DRIVEWAY SPACE AND SIGHT DISTANCE THE REQUEST BE DENIED~ WAS UNANIMOUSLY <br />ADOPTED, <br /> <br /> ON MOTION BY HR, FIFE~ SECONDED BY HR, BARBOUR~ THE PLANNING DEPARTMENT WAS <br />REQUESTED TO STUDY AND RECOMMEND POSSIBLE STANDARDS FOR FUTURE SERVICE STATIONS AND <br />DRIVE-IN RESTAURANTS, <br /> <br /> A COMMUNICATION WAS PRESENTED FROM THE DOGWOOD FESTIVAL REQUESTING PERMISSION <br /> <br />TO HANG STREET BANNERS~ USE OF HC)NTIRE PARK AND CONDUCT THE GRAND FEATURE PARADE. <br /> <br />ON MOTION BY HR, WRIGHT~ SECONDED BY HR, FIFE~ THE FOREGOING REQUESTS WERE APPROVED, <br /> <br /> AN EXECUTED DEED WAS PRESENTED FROM JORDAN DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION FOR 3.1 <br /> <br />ACRES OF LAND TO BE USED FOR PARK PURPOSES, ON MOTION BY HR, WRIGHT~ SECONDED BY <br /> <br />MR, BARBOUR~ THE GIFT OF LAND WAS ACCEPTED WITH THANKS, <br /> <br /> THE CITY HANAGER RECOMMENDED THAT THE CITY SPONSOR A CONTEST TO SECURE DESIGNS <br /> <br />FOR A CITY SEAL, HR, HENDRIX PRESENTED A PROPOSAL OUTLINING THE DETAILS OF THE <br /> <br />CONTEST AND THE COUNCIL SUGGESTED THAT A RESIDENT OF ALBEMARLE COUNTY AND A MEMBER <br /> <br />OF THE HISTORICAL SOCIETY BE INCLUDED IN THE JUDGING COMMITTEE.
