HAGGERTY REPORTED HE HAD RECEIVED A COMMUNICATION FROM THE CHARLOTTES- <br /> <br />VILLE COUNCIL ON HUMAN RELATIONS REQUESflNG THE CITY COUNCIL TO ESTABLISH A <br />BI-RACIAL ADVISORY COMMISSION. HE ALSO REPORTED HE HAD RECEIVED A RESOLUTION <br />ADO~ED BYYHE CHARLOTTESVILLE-ALBEMARLE MINISTERIAL ASSOCIATION ON JUNE 1~ 1963 <br />STRONGLY URGING THE COUNCIL TO ESTABLISH SUCH A COMMISSION. MR. LEE REQUESTED <br />THAT THE COUNCIL ACT PROMPTLY IN THE MATTER AND HR. HAGGERTY APPOINTED THE <br /> <br />COUNCIL AS A C~MMITTEE OF THE WHOLE TO STUDY THE REQUEST AND MAKE A RECOMMENDATION. <br />THE MAYOR STATED THAT THE COMMITTEE WILL GIVE THE MATTER ITS URGENT ATTENTION. <br /> <br /> A REQUEST WAS RECEIVED FROM MONTAGUE-MILLER AND COMPANY THAT BROOK ROAD AND <br /> <br />A PORTION OF HILLWOOD PLACE LOCATED IN SECTION Vii OF GREENBRIER SUBDIVISION BE <br />ACCEPTED INTO THE CITY STREET SYSTEM. A REPORT OF THE STREET COMMITTEE WAS RECEIVED <br />THAT RECOMMENDED BROOK ROAD AND A PORTION OF HILLWOOD PLACE BE ACCEPTED INTO THE <br />CITY STREET SYSTEM FOR MAINTENANCE. ON MOTION BY MR. MOUNT~ SECONDED BY MR. LEE~ <br />THE STREET COMMITTEEWS REPORT WAS DULY ADOPTED BY A UNANIMOUS VOTE. <br /> <br /> MR. BOWEN REPORTED THAT THE CITY NEEDED APPROXIMATELY 400 CHAIRS NOT ONLY <br /> <br />FOR CITY BAND CONCERTS~ BUT FOR OTHER CITY USES~ AND REQUESTED AN APPROPRIATION <br /> <br />OF ~2~000.00 TO PURCHASE THE CHAIRS FOR SUCH USES. ON MOTION BY HR. MOUNT~ SECONDED <br />BY MR. PONTON> THE FOLLOWING RESOLUTION WAS ADOPTED BY THE FOLLOWING RECORDED VOTE; <br />AYES: MR. HAGGERTY; MR. LEE, MR. MOUNT AND MR. PONTON. BOWEN REQUESTED THAT MR. <br />SANDRIDGE BE GIVEN RETIREMENT PAY EFFECTIVE JUNE 1~ 1963 AS PERMITTED BY THE CITY'S <br />RETIREMENT PLAN. ON MOTION BY MR. PONTON~ SECONDED BY MR. DABNEY WOOD SANDRIDGE BE PERMITTED TO RETIRE EFFECTIVE <br /> <br /> JUNE 1~ t963~ AND RECEIVE RETIREMENT PAY~ FROM THAT DATE~ AS <br /> <br /> PERMITTED BY THE CITY'S RETIREMENT PLAN. <br /> <br />THE CITY ATTORNEY REPORTED THAT THE ARTICLES OF DISSOLUTION OF THE ~OOTH <br />ANNIVERSARY COMMISSION HAD BEEN RECEIVED FROM THE STATE CORPORATION COMMISSION. <br /> <br /> THE 'RESOEUTilON APPROPRIATING ~35~499.16 FOR THE CITY'S SHARE OF THE COST <br /> <br />OF UTILITIES IN CAMELIA DRIVE (~3~396.31) AND JOHNSON VILLAGE (~12,102.85), WHICH <br />WAS OFFERED,AT THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL ON MAY ~0~ 1963~ WAS'ADOPTED BY THE <br />FOLLOWING RECORDED VOTE: AYES: MR.
