J. M, ROBERTS REQUESTED PERMISSION TO ADDRESS THE COUNCIL In REGARDS TO THE <br /> SALES TAX. THE MAYOR ADVISED MR. ROBERTS THAT THE PUBLIC HEARING ON THE BUDGETS AND <br /> <br /> SALES TAX HAD BEEN HELD AND UNLESS HE HAD NEW INFORMATION TO OFFER THE COUNCIL WOULD <br /> <br /> NOT HEAR HIM AGAIN. ON MOTION BY MR, SCRIBNER~ SECONDED BY MR. PONTON~ THE COUNCIL <br /> <br /> REAFFIRMED ITS POSITION OF NOT BEING IN FAVOR OF CALLING A REFERENDUM ON THE SALES TAX. <br /> <br /> ON MOTION BY MR. SCRIBNER~ SECONDED BY MR, RENNOLDS~ MR, ROBERTS WAS ALLOWED SIXTEEN <br /> <br /> ~INUTES TO SPEAK DURING WHICH TIME HE REAFFIRMED HIS OPPOSITION TO THE SALES TAX. MR. <br /> ROBERTS REQUESTED THAT THE PETITION WHICH HE FILED WITH THE COUNCIL ON APRIL 1~ t966 <br /> <br /> BE RETURNED. ON MOTION BY MR. SCRIBNER~ SECONDED BY MR. PONTON THE CLERK WAS INSTRUCTED <br /> <br /> TO RETAIN THE ORIGINAL PETITION~ BUT TO GIVE MR. ROBERTS A PHOTOSTATIC COPY. <br /> <br /> A COMMUNICATION WAS PRESENTED FROM THE JUNIOR CHAMBER OF COMMERCE REQUESTING PERMISSION <br /> TO SELL ADVERTISING TO BE DISPLAYED ON THE OUTFIELD FENCE OF THE LITTLE LEAGUE BALL PARK~ <br /> <br /> WHICH THEY ARE CONSTRUCTING ON QUARRY ROAD. ON MOTION BY MR. OO IN 1967; ~1,500.00 IN 1968 AND ~500,00 IN 1969. THE CiTY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED THAT THE MONEY BE APPROPRIATED AS AN ADVANCE TO THE ROTARY CLUB AND THE POOL <br />BE BUILT FOR USE THIS SUMMER.
