WEINBERG. ABSENT: NONE. <br />THE MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF JULY 5, 1960 WERE READ AND APPROVED. <br />A PUBLIC HEARING WAS HELD ON THIS DATE ON A PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO THE ZONING ORDINANCE <br />PUBLIC HEARING RE: <br />AMENDMENT TO ZONING WHICH WOULD CHANGE THE SET BACK REQUIREMENTS ON SEVENTH STREET BETWEEN HIGH STREET AND <br />ORDINANCE - SET BACK <br />REQUIREMENTS MAPLE STREET. NO ONE APPEARED FOR OR AGAINST THIS AMENDMENT. <br />AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND REENACTING PARAGRAPH 6 OF SECTION 56 <br />ORDINANCE ADOPTED RE: OF ARTICLE IV OF APPENDIX II OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1959, ENTITLED <br />SEG. 56, ART. IV OF <br />APPENDIX II - BLDG. 'BUILDING SETBACK LINE ON CERTAIN STREETS ", WHICH WAS OFFERED AT THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIU <br />SETBACK LINE ON CERTAIN <br />STREETS ON JUNE 13, 1960, WAS ADOPTED BY THE FOLLOWING RECORDED VOTE: AYES: MR. COLEMAN, MR. DAVIS, <br />MR. MICHIE, MR. SCRIBNER AND MR. WEINBERG. Noes: NONE. <br />MR. A. L. BENNETT ADDRESSED THE COUNCIL ON BEHALF OF A GROUP OF CITIZENS FROM THE <br />REQUEST RE: PREVENTING SOUTHEAST SECTION OF THE CITY, AND REQUESTED THE COUNCIL TO TAKE THE NECESSARY STEPS TO <br />BUSINESSES FROM LOCATING <br />IN S. E. SECTION OF CITY PREVENT A BUSINESS FROM LOCATING IN THAT VICINITY JUST OUTSIDE THE CITY LIMITS. AFTER <br />SOME DISCUSSION ON MOTION BY MR. WEINBERG, SECONDED 8Y MR. COLEMAN, THE FOLLOWING <br />RESOLUTION WAS UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED: <br />BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE <br />DESIRES THAT AlL NEIGHBORHOODS IN THE PROPOSED ANNEXATION AREA BE <br />RESOLUTION RE: NEIGHBORHOODS MAINTAINED IN THE SAME ZONING CLASSIFICATION, AS THEY WOULD NOW POSSESS <br />IN PROPOSED ANNEXATION AREA <br />MAINTAIN SAME ZONING IF INSIDE THE CITY, PENDING FINAL ADJUDICATION OF THE CURRENT ANNEXATION <br />CLASSIFICATION <br />SUIT. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT PURSUANT TO THIS GENERAL DESIRE TWE <br />COUNCIL WILL NOT GRANT UTILITY CONNECTIONS TO ANY PERSON OR LEGAL <br />ENTITY WHOSE CONSTRUCTION OR OPERATION WOULD SO CHANGE A NEIGHBORHOOD, <br />UNTIL ADJUDICATION OF THE ANNEXATION SUET. <br />AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT THE CITY ATTORNEY ADVISE THIS <br />COUNCIL OF ANY SUCH CHANGE OF WHICH HE HAS KNOWLEDGE WITH HIS RECOMMENOA- <br />TION AS TO WHAT LEGAL ACTION COULD BE TAKEN TO PREVENT SUCH CHANGE. <br />THE PETITION OF THE PURE Oil COMPANY REQUESTING PERMISSION TO OPERATE A GASOLINE <br />REQUEST TO OPERATE FILLING STATION AT THE CORNER OF 9TH STREET, $. W. AND CHERRY AVENUE, WHICH WAS PRESENTED <br />FILLING STATION GRANTED <br />TO THE COUNCIL ON JUNE 2O, 1960, WAS AGAIN CONSIDERED. NO ONE APPEARED FOR OR AGAINST <br />THIS PETITION. ON MOTION BY MR. WEINBERG, SECONDED BY MR. DAVIS, THE FOREGOING REQUEST <br />WAS UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED. <br />THE FINANCE COMMITTEE REPORTED THAT THEY HAD EXAMINED THE DELINQUENT ACCOUNTS <br />RECEIVABLES IN THE OFFICE OF THE DIRECTOR OF FINANCE AND RECOMMENDED THAT $20,175.61 <br />RECOMMENDATIONS FROM IN WATER, GAS AND SEWER RENTS, ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE GAS APPLIANCES AND ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE <br />FINANCE COMM. RE: <br />ACCTS. REC. CHARGED OFF MISCELLANEOUS BE CHARGED OFF AS UNCOLLECTIBLE. THE COMMITTEE ALSO POINTED OUT THAT THE <br />APPROVED <br />WATER AND GAS DEPOSIT CONTROL ACCOUNTS WERE OUT OF BALANCE BY $24.27 OVER A PER100 OF <br />YEARS, AND RECOMMENDED THAT THESE ACCOUNTS BE BROUGHT IN BALANCE. MR. R. G. HANTZMON <br />ADDRESSED THE COUNCIL AND CONCURRED IN THESE RECOMMENDATIONS. A MOTION BY MR. SCRIBNER, <br />SECONDED BY MR. DAVIS, THAT THE FOREGOING RECOMMENDATIONS 8E APPROVED, AND THAT THE COUNCIL <br />ADOPT A POLICY OF REVIEWING DELINQUENT ANO UNCOLIECTIBLE ACCOUNTS ANNUALLY WAS UNANIMOUSLY <br />ADOPTED. <br />A COMMUNICATION WAS PRESENTED FROM THE CLERK OF THE CORPORATION COURT REQUESTING <br />PERMISSION TO CLOSE HIS OFFICE ON SATURDAYS.
