'159 <br /> <br />NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING <br /> <br />A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE COUNCIL WILL BE HELD ON <br />July 1, 1988 AT 12:00 noon IN THE Council Chamber. <br /> <br />THE PROPOSED AGENDA IS AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Friday, <br /> <br />Organizational meeting of Council <br /> <br />BY ORDER OF THE MAYOR <br /> <br />BY Jeanne Cox (signed) <br /> <br />COUNCIL CHAMBER - July 1, 1988 <br /> <br /> Council met in special session on this date with the <br />following members present: Mr. Buck, Rev. Edwards, Mr. <br />Towe~ Mr. Vandever, Ms. Waters. <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix, City Manager, called the meeting to order <br />and presented Council with a resolution setting forth the <br />voting procedure for the positions of Mayor and Vice Mayor. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Towe, seconded by Mr. Vandever, the <br />resolution setting forth the voting procedure was <br />unanimously approved by Council. <br /> <br />Mr. Hendrix opened the floor for nominations for Mayor. <br />Rev. Edwards nominated Ms. Waters for Mayor. <br /> <br />Mr. Towe nominated Mr. Buck for Mayor. <br /> <br />Nominations were closed. <br /> <br /> Ms. Waters was elected Mayor by the following vote. <br />Ayes: Rev. Edwards, Mr. Vandever, Ms. Waters. Noes: Mr. <br />Buck and Mr. Towe. <br /> <br /> Mr. Buck congratulated Ms. Waters on her election as <br />Mayor and offered his full support. Mr. Buck stated that <br />in spite of former differences, he felt confident that the <br />Council will join together and work as a team for the best <br />interests of the community. <br /> <br /> Ms. Waters opened the floor for nominations for Vice <br />Mayor. <br /> <br />Mr. Vandever nominated Rev. Edwards for Vice Mayor. <br />Nominations were closed. <br /> <br /> Rev. Edwards was elected Vice Mayor by the following <br />vote. Ayes: Mr. Buck, Rev. Edwards, Mr. Towe, Mr. <br />Vandever, Ms. Waters. <br /> <br /> Mr. Towe wished the Mayor and Vice Mayor well and <br />presented Ms. Waters with flowers. <br /> <br /> Ms. Waters stated that she looked forward to working <br />together on Council and appreciated the kind words expressed <br />by Mr. Buck and Mr. Towe. Ms. Waters stated that she was <br />confident that the Council would be sensitive and <br />responsible. <br /> <br /> The meeting was adjourned. <br /> <br />President <br /> <br /> <br />
