Mr. Hendrix
explained that the request should be sent to the traffic engineer for the
City who would send out the proper forms and follow through with notifying
sur~onnding neighbors to insure that all who would be effected by the lights
wanted them. Mr. Hendrix further stated that if the request was approved,
then Council would need to approve a supplemental appropriation fOr the
amount needed.

Mr. Conover noted concern about the charge for installing underground
service, and Mr. Hendrix acknowledged that it was expensive but that the
rates were VEPCO's .charges as approved by the State Corporation Commission.
He further explained that where Underground lines existed, lines for the
street lights must also run underground. Mr. Conover asked if it was
feasible for the City to install the lights or obtain bids, but Mr. Hendrix
said that with the small number of lights needed, it would be to the City's
advantage to have VEPCO install them.

Mss.
