ORDINANCE: <br />PRORATION OF <br />CITY BUSINESS <br />LICENSE TAXES <br /> <br />BUBLIC <br /> <br />OTHER BUSINESS <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION: <br />$S0,386 YOUTH <br />SERVICE <br />CENTER <br />(2nd reading) <br /> <br /> Mr. Wiley presented the ordinance to Council Which was changed to <br /> comply with a change in the State Code which would allow for City <br /> business license taxes to ~be prorated for the number of full months <br /> that a .business ceased to do business.within the City. <br /> <br /> Mr. Conover moved, Mrs. Gleason seconded, and the ordinance <br />entitled "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND REORDAIN SECTION 1S-14 OF THE CODE <br />OF THE cITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, t976, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO THE <br />PRORATION OF CITY BUSINESS LICENSE TAXES" was carried over to the <br />next meeting. <br /> <br /> There were no mat~ers by the public. <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix asked Council for their endorsement of the City <br /> <br />entering into negotiations regarding the. possible purchase of the Bicentennial <br />'Center by the City and Albemarle County. The State Community College <br />Board required Council's approval before the State Board would make <br />recommendations to that effect. After ~the approval of' the State <br />Community College Board the matter would go before the General Assembly. <br /> <br /> Mr. Conover moved, Dr. Gunter seconded, and Council unanimously <br /> <br />agreed to allow the City Manager to enter into negotiations regarding the <br />Bicentennial Center. <br /> <br /> Mrs. Gleason moved, Mr. Conover seconded, and Council unanimously <br />voted to go into Executive Session to discuss possible litigation and <br />dispoSition of public 'property as exempted'by Section 2.1-344(a) of the <br />Virginia Freedom of Information Act. <br /> <br />The meeting was adjourned. <br /> <br /> Presid. <br />NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING <br /> <br />A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE COUNCIL WILL BE HELD ON Monday, August 22 1983 <br />AT 7:30 P..M.
