STAFF REPORT: <br />AMBULANCE <br />SERVICE PERMITS <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION: <br />$1o,ooo <br />COMMUNITY <br />HEATING <br />ASSISTANCE <br />PROGRAM <br /> <br />RESOLUTION: <br />AUTHORIZING <br />INDUSTRIAL <br />DEVELOPMENT <br />BONDS FOR <br />U. 'VA. HEALTH <br />SERVICES <br />FOUNDATION <br /> <br /> Mr. Roger Wiley stated that he had spoken with attorneys for Eastern <br />Virginia Ambulance Service, Yellow Ambulance Services, aid Anderson Brothers. <br />Mr. 'Wiley recommended.that, the City honor the'exclusive franchise presently <br /> awarded t.o Yellow Ambulance S ' <br /> erv~ce until its expiration Mr. Wiley <br /> <br />recommended. .. . that a study be conducted to determine wheth, r an exclusive <br />franchise should be awarded in the. future. <br /> <br /> Mr. Thomas Michie, representing Yellow Ambulance S~rvice, asked that <br />Council studY"the matter carefully, taking into account l:he fact that there <br />may not be enough business in Charlottesville to support more than one <br />service. <br /> <br /> Mr. ConO. ver requested that all interested parties c <br /> <br />study.. <br /> <br /> Mrs. Gleason moved to deny a permit to Eastern Virg <br />Service, Mr. Conover seconded the motion, and it was unan <br />Council. <br /> <br />The appropriation of $10,0.00 in matching funds for <br />Community Heating Assistance Program was moved by Dr. Hal <br />Mrs. Gleason, and carried over to the next meeting for co: <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlo <br />Virginia that the sum of $10,000.00, or as much thereof a: <br />required, is hereby appropriated from the unappropriated <br />the General Fund to expenditure account 01-42200-S407 for <br />Charlottesville Community Heatin Assistance Program.
