Mr. Hendrix stated that while the fair market value was more, the $3,000 <br />boing offered for the property appeared fair based on the past contributions <br />to the City by the Shopping Center. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mrs. Gleason, seconded by Dr. Hall, Council unanimously <br />voted to offer the land on Millmont St. to Barracks Road Shopping Center <br />at a price of $3,000. <br /> <br /> Dr. Gunter requested that tho issue of the old Safeway building on <br />West Main Street be Placed on the agenda for the next meeting and that a <br />specific report be prepared by City staff on the City's rights and needs in <br />the matter, possible uses for the building, and a timo frame from Safeway. <br /> <br /> A work session to discuss highway issues including Mclntire Road, the <br />Eastern-Western Bypass, Ridge Str.eet bridge, and Route 29, was set for May 23rd <br />at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br /> A work session with the Social Development Commission to discuss racial <br />issues and budget requosts for the upcoming year was set for June llth at <br />7'30 p.m. <br /> <br /> Juno 6th at 7:30 p.m. was set as the date for Council to interview <br /> <br />School Board applicants, with June 12th set as an additional time if necessary. <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix stated that a decision concerni, ng locating a BMX track at <br /> <br />Pen Park needed to be ma,de. <br /> <br /> Mrs. Gleason requested that a public hearing be held on the issue and <br />asked that stakes marking off the perimeter of the proposed site and a <br />notice be placed at Pen Park before the public hearing. <br /> <br /> On motion by Dr. Gunter, seconded by Dr. Hall, Council unanimously <br />voted to meet in executive session to discuss disposition.o£ property and <br />legal matters as exempted by Section 2.1-344(a)(2) and (6) of the Virginia <br />Freedom of Information Act. <br /> <br /> The meeting was adjourned. <br />'C1 er~ <br /> <br />~resident ~ <br /> <br /> NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING <br />A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE COUNCIL WILL BE HELD ON Monday, May 21 1984 AT <br />12:00 noon IN THE City Manager's Office, City Hall.
