On a question from Dr. Gunter concerning previous electrical and

<br />mechanical deficiencies, at the High School, Mr. Jimmie Dunbar of the
<br />
<br />School Administration, responded that the situation had improved significantly.

<br />Dr. Cibbarelli introduced Ms. Helen Stiff, the newly appointed principal
<br />
<br />at Buford Junior High School and-Dr. Richard Greig, the newly appointed
<br />
<br />principal at Charlottesville High School.
<br />
<br /> Ms. Mary Reese, Assistant Superintendent of Schools, reported on the
<br />recently held Education Issues Forum attended by approximately 200 participants
<br />
<br />who represented a cross-section of the community. Ms. Reese listed the five
<br />
<br />major issues that-had been..identified at the forum: 1)i articulation, or looking
<br />
<br />at the total school process, 2) parental/community-involvement, 3) race relations,
<br />
<br />4) student involvement and activities, and $) curriculum relevancy. Ms. Ree'se
<br />
<br />added that the School Administration was taking these issues into serious
<br />
<br />consideration in their planning process and that a task force would follow up
<br />
<br />on the ideas identified at the forum.
