THE PROPOSED AGENDA IS AS FOLLOWS: Meeting with Vinegar Hill Design Committee to discuss mall and hotel.design BY ORDER OF THE_MAYOR BY Jeanne Cox (signed) .BASEMBNT'CONFERBNCB ROOM - December 11, 1984 Council met in special session on this-date'for a meeting with the Vinegar Hill Design committee with the foIlowing members present: Mr.' Buck, Mrs. GteaSon, Dr. Halt. .Absent: Mr. Barnes, Dr. Gunter. The architects from Lawler~Wood. presented final plans for the extension of the mai1. The. recommendations fr.om Council'and the Design 'Committee inclnde'd: 1) adding a sidewalk from the-parking lot'on the south side of the mall to the m~ll itself; 2) add additional lighting, S) provide water access~to accommodate a fountain that could be added at a later date, 4) include a bicycle rack, S) provide trash receptacle's, 6) remove .center plantings from the vehicle drop-off area~ and~-?') increase landscaping to shield swimming pool area. Absent: Mr. Barnes, Dr. Gunter. Dr. JoSeph MOoney, School Board member, .stated that the Charlottesville High School Auditorium Use Committee hgd recommended that the CHS auditorium'be available for $45 per hour .with non- prOfit-groups allowed up to fir.teen hours of free rehearsal time, and the Walker and Buford Auditorium and CHS Black BOx be available. for $3S per hour. Mrs.~Sandra Leveine, representing Piedmont Council of the Arts, ~stated that the reaction to the r.ecommendation was favorable though the amount~ of rehearsal time was-felt to be short. Mr'. Lecky Stone concurred with Mrs. Levine's feeling that the' rehearsal time could be longer and suggested allowing 2S hours for on-stage rehearsal. Mr: Stone added his~ support for the technical director position for the auditorium.
