held on May 7 and '8, 1985. REQUEST: CHARLOTTESVILLE VOLUNTEER FIRE COMPANY Mr. F. J. Easton of the CharlOttesville Volunteer Fire Company, requested that Council appropriate $1S,000 ~o help the Fire Company Association conference in August of 198S. Mrs. Gleason stated that she recalled the Fire Company had stated the amount would be approximately $10,000 when they had appeared before Council to ask fOr their commitment of funds in 1982. Mr. Easton stated that expenses were more than had been .anticipated. On motion by Dr. Hall, seconded by Dr. GUnter, the appropriation of $1S,000 to the Charlottesville Volunteer Fire Company war offered and carried over to the next meeting for consideration.. PRESENTATION: CORNER MERCHANTS ASSOCIATION/ VENABLE NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION Mr. Mark L.orenzoni, spokesman .for the Corner Merchants Association, introduced a large group of supporters who were in attendance at the meeting and presented a petition with 2,157 signatures.
