Easton of the CharlOttesville Volunteer Fire Company, <br />requested that Council appropriate $1S,000 ~o help the Fire Company <br />Association conference in August of 198S. <br /> <br /> Mrs. Gleason stated that she recalled the Fire Company had stated <br />the amount would be approximately $10,000 when they had appeared before <br />Council to ask fOr their commitment of funds in 1982. <br /> <br /> Mr. Easton stated that expenses were more than had been .anticipated. <br /> <br /> On motion by Dr. Hall, seconded by Dr. GUnter, the appropriation of <br />$1S,000 to the Charlottesville Volunteer Fire Company war offered and <br /> <br />carried over to the next meeting for consideration.. <br /> <br />PRESENTATION: <br />CORNER MERCHANTS <br />ASSOCIATION/ <br />VENABLE <br />NEIGHBORHOOD <br />ASSOCIATION <br /> <br /> Mr. Mark L.orenzoni, spokesman .for the Corner Merchants Association, <br />introduced a large group of supporters who were in attendance at the meeting <br />and presented a petition with 2,157 signatures. Mr. Lorenzoni appealed to <br />COunCil to help with the pa~king problem in the Corner area as the area was <br /> <br />becoming incrc <br />requested' that <br />problem. <br /> <br />asingly congested and sales were declining.
