A resolution authorizing the City Manager to apply for a grant <br /> from the Virginia Commission of Outdoor Recreation. <br /> <br />2. Brunton (signed) <br /> President <br /> <br />Resolution re: <br />Authorizing the City <br />Manager to apply <br />for a grant from <br />the Va. Comm. of <br />Outdoor Recreation <br /> <br /> The Council met in special session on this date with the following <br />members present: Mr~ Albro, Mr.~ Brunton, Mr. Buck, Mr. Gatewood and <br />Mrs. O'Brien. Absent: None. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mrs. O'Brien, seconded by Mr. Albro the following <br />resolution was unanimously adopted. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS,~'~he'Virginia commission of Outdoor Recreation <br />provides funds to assist political subdivisions of the Commonwealth <br />of Virginia in acquiring and developing open space and park lands; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, there is an urgent need within'the City of <br />Charlottesville and surrounding areas of Albemarle County to preserve <br />land as open space and future development for park purposes; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Wayland property adjacent to Pen Park is deemed <br />of high acquisition and/or development priority by the City of <br />Charlottesville and shall be referred to as the Pen Park Expansion <br />Project; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in order to Obtain funding assistance from the <br />Virginia Commission of Outdoor Recreation it is necessary that the <br />City provide a proportionate matching share of the costs thereof, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the proportionate project share is funded fifty <br />percent by the Virginia Commission of Outdoor Recreation and <br />fifty percent by the City; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City <br />of Charlottesville that the City Manager is hereby authorized to <br />cause such information and materials as may be necessary to be <br />provided to the Commission of Outdoor Recreation to permit the <br />formulation, approval and funding of the Pen Park Expansion <br />Project; and <br /> <br /> <br />
