215 <br /> <br />Ordinance re: <br />Granting non-emergency <br />ambulance service <br />franchise to Yellow <br />Ambulance Company <br /> <br />Resolution re: <br />Authorizing City <br />Manager to execute <br />contract and permit <br />for Yellow Ambulance <br />services <br /> <br />Matters by the Public <br /> <br />Resolution re: <br />Honoring Booker T. <br />Reaves <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, <br />Virginia, that the sum of $1,000.00 is hereby appropriated from <br />the unappropriated balance of the General Fund to expenditure <br />account 01-92450 for expenses incurred by the City-County <br />Cooperation Study Commission in analyzing the feasibility of <br />methods for the joint provision of park and recreation services <br />in the City of Charlottesville and County of Albemarle. <br /> <br /> An ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE GRANTING A NON- <br /> <br />EMERGENCY AMBULANCE SERVICE FRANCHISE TO THE YELLOW AMBULANCE <br /> <br />COMPANY TO PROVIDE NON-EMERGENCY AMBULANCE SERVICE WITHIN THE <br /> <br />LIMITS OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, VIRGINIA, FOR A PERIOD <br /> <br />BEGINNING FEBRUARY.L1, 1980, AND ENDING DECEMBER 31, 1984" which <br />was offered at the meeting of the Council on February 4, 1980, <br />was adopted by the following recorded vote. Ayes: Mr. Albro, <br />Mr. Brunton, Mr.. Buck, Mr. Gatewood, Mrs. O'Brien. Noes: None. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Albro, seconded by Mr. Gatewood, the <br />following resolution was unanimously adopted. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Charlottesville, <br />Virginia, has enacted an ordinance granting the Yellow Ambulance <br />Company the exclusive right, privilege and duty to operate a <br />non-emergency ambulance service available to the general public <br />for hire based within the city limits of the City of Charlottesville <br />for the period beginning February 1, 1980, and ending December <br />31, 1984; now, therefore, be it <br /> <br /> RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, <br />Virginia, that the City Manager be and hereby is authorized to <br />execute on behalf of the City of Charlottesville a contract and <br />permit with the Yellow Ambulance Company, said contract and <br />permit to contain the same conditions that were duly advertised <br />in the request for bids published in the classified advertising <br />section of the January 12, 13 and 14, 1980, issues of THE DAILY <br />PROGRESS, a newspaper published in Charlottesville, Virginia; and <br />be it further <br /> <br /> RESOLVED that the Clerk of the Council attest the signature <br />of the City Manager and affix the corporate seal of the City <br />of Charlottesville to said contract and permit. <br /> <br />The Mayor stated that Mr. L.B. Chandler, attorney for Mrs. <br /> <br />Betty Mawyer and the Police Association, should be given an <br />answer to his request concerning a monthly pension for Mrs. Mawyer <br />and a change in the survivor benefits in the pension system. He <br />stated that Mr. Mawyer was not of early retirement age nor did <br />he have thirty years' service; therefore, Mrs. Mawyer is not <br />eligible to receive benefits from the retirement fund. He <br /> <br />stated the Retirement Fund Co~m~ission recommends that the service <br /> <br />requirement in the Retirement Fund not be changed retroactively <br /> <br />to meet Mrs. Mawyer's request. He stated it was the opinion of <br />the Retirement Fund Commission that Council should not provide funds <br />to meet Mrs. Mawyer's request for $400 per month. <br /> <br />A motion by Mrs. O'Brien, seconded by Mr. Gatewood, that the <br /> <br />Retirement Plan Ordinance not be changed retroactively and that <br />the City dany Mrs. Mawyer's request for $400 per month was <br /> <br />unanimously adopted. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mrs. O'Brien, seconded by Mr. Albro, the <br />following resolution was unanimously adopted. <br /> <br /> <br />
