290 <br /> <br />Other business <br /> <br />Executive session <br /> <br />The State, as a result of a recent study, has identified nine <br />of these crossings as dangerous and requiring attention. The <br />State has reqeusted that Council adopt a priority list of <br />crossings requiring safety ~mprovements, estimating the cost <br />at $500,000 to $750,000 of which the City's share would be 5%. <br />Mr. John Berberich, Director of Public Works, discussed with <br />Council members the priority list of railroad crossings as <br />well as ~ome concerns by Council members about the necessity <br />of-using gates at all crossings, the efficacy of such gates <br />and the annual cost of maintenance, It was agreed that staff <br />w-ould prepare answers to these questions and report back to <br />Council at its next meeting. Tt~e resolution was thus deferred <br />pending this additional information. <br /> Ms. Gleason read a letter from William B. Leaman, Manager of <br /> State and Local Youth Facilities of the State of Virginia, <br /> commending the Community Attention Home programs as having <br /> successfully completed a certification process by a team of <br /> examiners from the Department of Corrections with some of the <br /> highest scores achieved by group homes in the State. <br /> <br /> Mr. Conover suggested that the agenda for Council meetings <br /> <br /> be flashed on TV for those watching at home and it~was agreed <br /> that the Cable TV Company would be approached about the possibility <br /> of doing so. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Albro, seconded by Ms. Gleason, Council <br /> unanimously agreed to meet in executive session to discuss matters <br /> exempted by Section 2.1-344(a)(1)(Personnel) and Section 2.1-344 <br /> (a)(6)(Legal) of the Virginia Freedom of Information Act. <br /> <br /> On motion the meeting adjourned. <br /> <br /> Clerk <br /> <br />Special session <br /> <br /> TAKE NOTICE <br /> <br /> A special meeting of the Council will be held on Monday, the <br />14th inst. at 7:30 p.m. o'clock. <br />BASEMENT CONFERENCE ROOM <br /> <br />1.
