333 Special session Resolution re: Authorizing mayor to sign deed for Midway School property TWIN BRIDGES MARRIOTT, ARLINGTON SEPT. 29, 1980 Council met on this date in special session with the following members prea~ent: Mr. Buck, Mr. Conover, Ms. Gleason, Dr. Hall. Absent: Mr. Albro. On motion hy Dr, Hall, seconded by Ms. Gleason, Council unanimously adopted the following resolution~ BE IT RESOLVED by. the Council of the City of Charlottesville that the Mayor is hereb'Y authorized to execute on behalf of the City the followihg docUment, in form approved by the City Attorney: Deed of targain and Sale to convey to Midway ManorT~Associates property known as p~reet 93 on City Real Property Tax Map Shaet 28, a'a~'further shown and described on the attached plat of aurae? prepared by Arthur F. Edwards, CLS, dated September 5, 198Q .... A copy of such document shall be kept on file with the minutes of the Council meeting at which th~s resolution was adopted. President Regular session Approval of minutes Presentation re: VML award for Therapeutic Recreation~Program Matters by the public McGuffeY Art Center COUNCIL CHAMBER - MONDAY, OCTOBER 6, 1980 Council met in regular session on this date with the following members present: Mr. Albro, Mr. Buck, Mr. Conover, Ms. Gleason, Dr. Hall. Absent: None. On motion by Mr. Conover, seconded by Dr. Hall, the minutes of the meeting of September 15 were unanimously approved as amended. On motion by-Ms. Gleason, seconded by Mr. Conover, the minutes of September 17 were unanimously approved as presented. On motion by Mr, Albro, seconded by Mr, Conover, the minutes of September 22 were unanimously approved with amendments, Dr. Hall abstaining. It was agreed hy common consent to hold the minutes of September 29 for approval at the next regular meeting. Mayor Buck presented the Virginia Municipal League award received by the City at the recent VML convention to Mr. Gene_ German, Director of Parks & Recreation, and to Ms. Mildred Spicer, Recreation Director, for the City's Therapeutic Recreation Program and commended them on the excellence of the program, stating that Charlottesville was one of only 12'communities in Virginia to receive such and:award. Mr. German thanked the Mayor for the recognition and commended Ms. Spicer's role in the program's success, as well as other individuals who contributed to it. Ms, Ashtin Smith~ Chairman of the Community Relations Committee of the McGuffeY Art Association, presented the Association's community reIations report and introduced the new officers: Ms. Shirley Hammond, President; Ms. Lacey Evans, 1st Vice President; Ms, MaCcrae Kudravetz, SeCretary~ and Ms. Deborah Lingon, Treasurer. Ms. Hammond presented the five year financial report to Council. Ms, Smith. stated that the center was celebrating its fifth anniversary with a Birthday ShOw and Birthday Party and invited the public to participate in the celebrations.
