Buck (signed) <br /> <br />COUNCIL CHAMBER TUESDAY, OCTOBER 14, 1980 <br />Council met in special session on this date with the following <br />members present: Mr. Albro, Mr. Buck, Mr. Conover, Ms. Gleason, <br />Dr. Hall. Absent: None. <br /> <br /> Council held a joint public hearing with-the Planning Commission, <br />the minutes of which are on file wit~the minutes of this meeting. <br /> On motion the meeting adjourned.%-- <br /> <br /> Clerk Pr.esident --~' <br /> <br />Regular session <br /> <br />Approval of minutes <br /> <br />Presentation re: <br />Resolution honoring <br />Lt. Willie H. Bryant <br /> <br />COUNCIL CHAMBER - MONDAY, OCTOBER 20, 1980 <br /> <br /> Council met in regular session on this date with the following <br />members present: Mr. Albro, Mr. Buck, Mr. Conover, Ms. Gleason, Dr. <br /> <br />Hall. Absent: None. <br /> <br />On motion by Mr. Conover, seconded'by Ms. Gleason, the minutes <br /> <br />of September 29 were unanimously approved as presented, Mr. Albro <br /> <br />abstaining. On motion by Ms. Gleason, seconded by Mr. Albro, the <br /> <br />minutes of October 6 were unanimously approved as presented. On <br /> <br />motion by Dr. Hall, seconded by Mr. Albro, the minutes of October 13 <br /> <br />were unanimously approved as presented. On motion by Mr. Albro, <br /> <br />seconded by Ms. Gleason, the minutes of October 14 were unanimously <br />approved as presented, <br /> <br />Mayor Buck presented the following resolution to Mrs. Vinda <br /> <br />Bryant, the widown of Lieutenant Willie H. Bryant, and Council <br /> <br />approved same by common consent: <br /> <br /> WHEREAS the recent and untimely death of.Lieutenant Willie H. <br />Bryant of the Charlottesville City Police Department has deprived <br />the City of a police officer and citizen deeply devoted to serving <br />his community and his fellow citizens; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS Lt. Bryant served the City as a police officer for <br />34 ~years, rising through the ranks from patrolman to. sergeant to <br />lieutenant, and finally serving as an able and perceptive detective in <br />the Investigations Division where he excelled in his patient deter- <br />mination to bring major and minor cases to successful~.conclusions; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS Lt. Bryant's professionalism and devotion to duty were <br />a source of pleasure and inspriation to his co-workers and fellow <br />citizens alike; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS this Council joins with its fellow citizens in <br />expressing their deepest regret at the loss of one who has <br />done so much to make Charlottesville a better and more caring place <br />to live; now, therefore, be it <br /> <br /> RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia, <br />that we hereby express to Mrs. Vinda Brya.n~and the family and friends <br />of Lieutenant Willie H. Bryant our most sincere sympathy in their <br />time of sorrow. <br /> <br /> -Signed and sealed at Charlottesville, Virginia, this 20th day <br />of October, 1980. <br /> <br /> <br />
