Committee set up: <br />Study of Farm type <br />animals in City <br /> <br />Executive Session <br /> <br />Request re: Orange <br />County Board of <br />Supervisors ?re: <br />renaming Route <br />20 - Constitution <br />Highway <br /> <br /> is generally held unconstitutional by the Courts and he does not <br /> believe it possible to pass a law to lock people up because they <br /> are on the street. <br /> <br /> Mr. Gilliam mentioned the letter from Mr. and Mrs. Mabry concerning <br /> a goat in their neighborhood and suggested that a committee be <br /> appointed to consider an ordinance against keeping farm type <br /> animals in the City. The Mayor appointed Mr. Gilliam and Mr. Fife <br /> to this committee. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Gilliam, seconded by Mr. Fife, Council voted <br /> <br />to go into executive session to consider property acquisition, <br />personnel and a legal matter, by the following recorded vote. Ayes: <br />Mr. Fife, Mr. Gilliam, Mrs. Rinehart and Mr. Van Yahres. Noes: None. <br />Absent: Mr. Barbour. <br /> <br /> A commication was presented from the Orange County Board of <br />Supervisors recommending that Virginia State Route 20 be designated <br />Constitution Highway. Absent: Mrs. Rinehart <br /> <br /> The minutes of the meeting of July 7, 1975 were approved as <br />presented. <br /> <br />On motion by Mr. Fife, Mr. Hovey Dabney, Mr. B. J. Haggerty and <br />Mr. Dallas Reid were reappointed to the Economic Development Commission. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Fife, Mrs. Anna Devening was appointed to the <br />Thomas Jefferson Drug Abuse Advisory Council by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> On .motion by Mr. Van Yahres, Mr. George Wiley and Mr. Cole <br /> <br />Hendrix were appointed to the Transportation Policy Board. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Fife, Mrs. Virginia Schatz and Mr. R. Stanley <br />Tatum were appointed to the Transportation Policy Board. <br /> <br /> The resolution appropriating $2,600.00 for the Office of <br />Commonwealth's Attorney, which was offered at the meeting of the <br />Council on July 7, 1975, was adopted by the following recorded vote. <br />Ayes: Mr. Barbour, Mr. Fife, Mr. Gilliam and Mr. Van Yahres. Noes: <br />None. Absent: Mrs. Rinehart. <br /> <br /> <br />
