Committee set up: Study of Farm type animals in City Executive Session Request re: Orange County Board of Sup ervi s or s~ ~r e: renaming Route 20- Constitution Highway is generally held unconstitutional by the Courts and he does not believe it possible to pass a law to' lock people up because they are on the street. Mr. Gilliam mentioned the letter from Mr. and Mrs. Mabry concerning a goat in their neighborhood and suggested that a committee be appointed to consider an ordinance against keeping farm type animals in the City. The Mayor appointed Mr. Gilliam and Mr. Fife to this committee. On motion by Mr. gilliam, seconded by Mr. Fife, Council voted to go into executive session to consider property acquisition, personnel and a legal matter, by the following recorded vote. Ayes: Mr. Fife, Mr. Gilliam, Mrs. Rinehart and Mr. Van Yahres. Noes: None. Absent: Mr. Barbour. A commication was presented from the Orange County Board of Supervisors recommending that Virginia State Route 20 be designated Constitution Highway. On motion by Mr. Fife, seconded by Mr. Gilliam this matter was referred to the Planning Commission, Bicentennial Commission and Historical Society. On motion the meeting adjourned. Absent: Mrs. Rinehart The minutes of the meeting of July 7, 1975 were approved as presented. On motion by Mr. Fife, Mr. Hovey Dabney, Mr. Bo J. Haggerty and Mr. Dallas Reid were reappointed to the Economic Development Commission. On motion by Mr. Fife, Mrs. Anna Devening was appointed to the Thomas Jefferson Drug Abuse Advisory Council by unanimous vote. One. motion by Mr. Van Yahres, Mr. George Wiley and Mr. Cole Hendrix were appointed to the Transportation Policy Board. On motion by Mr. Fife, Mrs. Virginia Schatz and Mr. R. Stanley Tatum were appointed to the Transportation Policy Board. The resolution appropriating $2,600.00 for the Office of Commonwealth's Attorney, which was offered at the meeting of the Council on July 7, 1975, was adopted by the following recorded vote. Ayes: Mr. Barbour, Mr. Fife, Mr. Gilliam and Mr. Van Yahres. Noes: None. Absent: Mrs. Rinehart.
