wHE~s'~-' the Coumcil of the City of Charlottesville- <br />believes the Federal Executive Institute, presently located in <br />Charlottesville, to be a valuable asset to the City and to our <br />neighboring jurisdictions; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, members of this Council, the city staff and <br />the Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission have been <br />engaged in aiding the General Services Administration in <br />evaluating proposed sites for the Federal Executive Institute; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, said Thomas Jefferson Planning District <br />Commission has adopted a resolution dated October 8, 1975 requesting <br />the General Services Administration to allow the Institute to <br />remain in this community, and urging our senators and <br />representative in Congress to assist in the effort to preserve <br />the Institute as an asset in the community; now, therefore, be it <br /> <br /> RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville <br />that the Council concurs in the resolution of the Thomas <br />Jefferson Planning District Commission dated October 8th and <br />urges all responsible authorities to take the necessary steps <br />to enable the Federal Executive Institute to remain zn <br />Charlottesville; and <br /> <br /> RESOLVED, that the Clerk of the Council be directed to <br />send certified copies of this resolution to Senators Harry F. <br />Byrd, Jr. and William Scott, to Congressman J. Kenneth <br />Robinson to the Director of the Federal Executive Institute, <br />and to the Administrator of General Services. <br /> <br />On motion the meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />Clerk <br /> <br />COUNCIL CHAMBER - MONDAY, OCTOBER 20,1975 <br /> <br />Regular meeting <br /> <br />Approval of minutes <br /> <br />Presentation re: certificates <br />to members of Central City <br />Commission <br /> <br />Resolution re: Bingo Permit <br />Charlottesville-Albemarle <br />Jaycees <br /> <br />Appointment: Advisory Board on <br />Information and Referral <br /> <br /> The Council met in regular session on this date with the <br />following members present: Mr. Barbour, Mr. Fife, Mr. Gilliam, <br />Mrs. Rinehart and Mr. Van Yahres. Absent: None. <br /> <br /> The minutes of the meetings of October 6~and 13, 1975 were <br />approved as corrected. <br /> <br /> The Mayor presented certificates of appreciation to the <br />members of the Central City Commission. The Mayor and Mr. <br /> <br />Van yahres expressed their deep appreciation to the members of <br />the Commission for their efforts. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Gilliam, seconded by Mr. Fife the following <br />resolution was unanimously adopted. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Charlottesville-Albemarle Jaycees have <br />duly applied for a permit to conduct bingo parties in <br />compliance with §19-36 of the Code of the City of Charlottesville, <br />1965, as amended; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it has been determined that the Charlottesville- <br />Albemarle Jaycees meet the qualifications as outlined in ~19-36; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the <br />City of Charlottesville that a permit be granted to the <br />Charlottesville-Albemarle Jaycees to conduct bingo parties in <br />accordance with all the provisions of ~19-36 o~ the Code of the <br />City of Charlottesville for a period of one year from the date <br />of this resolution; and <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED 'that the Clerk of the Council be <br />directed to send a copy of this resolution to the President <br />of the Charlottesville-Albemarle Jaycees. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mrs. Rinehart, Dr.~ ~£..-~S.'~Chowdhry, was appointed <br />to the Advisory Board on Information and Referral. <br /> <br /> <br />
