wHE~s'~-' the Coumcil of the City of Charlottesville- believes the Federal Executive Institute, presently located in Charlottesville, to be a valuable asset to the City and to our neighboring jurisdictions; and WHEREAS, members of this Council, the city staff and the Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission have been engaged in aiding the General Services Administration in evaluating proposed sites for the Federal Executive Institute; and WHEREAS, said Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission has adopted a resolution dated October 8, 1975 requesting the General Services Administration to allow the Institute to remain in this community, and urging our senators and representative in Congress to assist in the effort to preserve the Institute as an asset in the community; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that the Council concurs in the resolution of the Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission dated October 8th and urges all responsible authorities to take the necessary steps to enable the Federal Executive Institute to remain zn Charlottesville; and RESOLVED, that the Clerk of the Council be directed to send certified copies of this resolution to Senators Harry F. Byrd, Jr. and William Scott, to Congressman J. Kenneth Robinson to the Director of the Federal Executive Institute, and to the Administrator of General Services. On motion the meeting adjourned. Clerk COUNCIL CHAMBER - MONDAY, OCTOBER 20,1975 Regular meeting Approval of minutes Presentation re: certificates to members of Central City Commission Resolution re: Bingo Permit Charlottesville-Albemarle Jaycees Appointment: Advisory Board on Information and Referral The Council met in regular session on this date with the following members present: Mr. Barbour, Mr. Fife, Mr. Gilliam, Mrs. Rinehart and Mr. Van Yahres. Absent: None. The minutes of the meetings of October 6~and 13, 1975 were approved as corrected. The Mayor presented certificates of appreciation to the members of the Central City Commission. The Mayor and Mr. Van yahres expressed their deep appreciation to the members of the Commission for their efforts. On motion by Mr. Gilliam, seconded by Mr. Fife the following resolution was unanimously adopted. WHEREAS, the Charlottesville-Albemarle Jaycees have duly applied for a permit to conduct bingo parties in compliance with §19-36 of the Code of the City of Charlottesville, 1965, as amended; and WHEREAS, it has been determined that the Charlottesville- Albemarle Jaycees meet the qualifications as outlined in ~19-36; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that a permit be granted to the Charlottesville-Albemarle Jaycees to conduct bingo parties in accordance with all the provisions of ~19-36 o~ the Code of the City of Charlottesville for a period of one year from the date of this resolution; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED 'that the Clerk of the Council be directed to send a copy of this resolution to the President of the Charlottesville-Albemarle Jaycees. On motion by Mrs. Rinehart, Dr.~ ~£..-~S.'~Chowdhry, was appointed to the Advisory Board on Information and Referral.
