Resolution re: <br />Appointing Viewers <br />Closing "Jessups <br />Alley" and"Conways <br />Alley" <br /> <br />Ordinance re: Awarding <br />Bid to CPC for lease <br />of the Parking Garage <br /> <br />Consideration re: <br />Ordinance re: Changing <br />voting place in Johnson <br />Precinct and Lane <br />Precinct <br /> <br />Resolution re: <br />Appointing Viewers <br />Hedge Street <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council has received a petition <br />requesting vacation of the following alleys: <br /> <br /> (a) That certain alley approximately 10 feet <br />in width running in a northwesterly direction from 6th <br />Street, S. E-. approximately 360 feet in a direction <br />perpendicualr to Ware Street including that portion of <br />the alley approximately 280 feet from 6th Street running <br />80 feet in a southwesterly direction. The alley requested <br />to be closed in commonly known as Jessup's Alley. <br /> <br /> (b) That certain alley approximately 10 feet <br />in width running in a northwesterly direction from 6th <br />street, S. E. approximately 240 feet in a direction" <br />perpendicular to Ware Street and then running in <br />a southwesterly direction from approximately 230 feet. <br />The alley requested to be closed is commonly known as <br />Conway's alley; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it appears to Cduncil that' the notices <br />required by §15-1-364 of the Code of Virginia (1950), as <br />amended, have deen duly posted; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of <br /> the City of Charlottesville that James P. Borden, Mason <br /> S. Byrd and H. P. Winn, Jr. be and the same are hereby <br /> appointed to view such street and report in writing to <br /> Council what inconvenience, if any, would result from the <br /> vacation thereof. <br /> <br />An ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE GRANTING LEASE <br /> <br />AND MANAGEMENT RIGHTSFOR THE CITY PARKING STRUCTURE TO <br />CHARLOTTESVILLE PARKING CENTER, INC., AND AUTHORIZING THE <br />CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT THEREFOR," which was <br />offered at the meeting of the Council on December 15, 1975, <br />was adopted by the following recorded vote. Ayes: Mr. <br />Barbour, Mt.Fife, Mr. Gilliam, Mrs.Rinehart and Mr. Van <br /> <br />Yahres. Noes: None. <br /> <br />An ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND <br /> <br />REORDAIN SECTION 1-13 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF <br /> <br />CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1965, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO ELECTION <br /> <br />DISTRICTS AND VOTING PLACES IN ORDER TO PROVIDE FOR <br /> <br />A CHANGE IN THE VOTING PLACE OF THE JOHNSON PRECINCT," <br />was offered by Mr. Gilliam, seconded by Mrs. Rinehart and <br />carried over to the next meeting for consideration. <br /> <br /> A communication was presented from the Electoral <br />Board stating that the gymnasium at Lane has previously <br />been used for voting pace but will in the future be used <br />by the YMCA. It stated that they have examined the <br />cafeteria and find this location to be suitable and <br /> <br />recommended that the cafeteria be approved as a future <br /> <br />voting place. On motion by Mr. Gilliam, seconded by <br /> <br />Mrs. Rinehart the foregoing recommendation was unanimously <br /> <br />adopted. <br /> <br />On motion by Mr. Van Yahres, seconded by Mrs. Rinehart <br /> <br />the following resolution was unanimously adopted. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council has received a petition <br />requesting vacation of that certain unimprOved alley known <br />as a portion of Hedge Street running from 2nd Street, N.E. <br />in a southeasterly direction to the point at which 3rd <br />Street, N.E. becomes Park Plaza. <br /> <br /> <br />
