Appropriation re: <br />$12,500 for Bicentennial <br />Information Center <br /> <br />Resolution re: Bingo <br />Permit for Laura <br />Rebekah Lodge No. 26 <br /> <br />Resolution re: Appointing <br />viewers - Deadend 'alley <br />between Dale Avenue and <br />Pres ton Avenue <br /> <br />Acceptance of 'Bid re: <br />Washington Park Basket- <br />ball Courts <br /> <br /> (~) surrender his permit or permits for a <br /> partial refund. The refund shall be <br /> one-half the original price if surrendered <br /> before November 1, one-third between <br /> November 1 and February 1, or no refund <br /> after February 1. <br /> <br /> The person surrendering the permits shall be either <br /> case show identification sufficient to establish <br /> himself as the person, or the representative of <br /> the person, who originally acquired the permits. <br /> <br />On motion by Mrs. Rinehart, seconded by Mr. Van Yahres the <br />foregoing recommendation was unanimously adopted. <br /> <br /> The resolution appropriating $12,500 for operating <br />funds for the Bicentennial Information Center, which was <br />offered at the meeting of the Council on May 3, 1976, <br />was adopted by the following recorded vote. Ayes: Mr. <br />Barbour, Mr. Fife, Mr. Gilliam, Mrs. Rinehart~and Mr. <br /> <br />Van Yahres. Noes: None. <br /> <br />On motion by Mr. Van Yahres, seconded by Mr. Fife <br /> <br />the following resolution was unanimously adopted. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Laura Rebekah Lodge No. 26 haa duly <br />applied for a permit to conduct bingo parties in <br />compliance with Section 19-36 of the Code of the City of <br />Charlottesville, 1965, as amended; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it has been determined that Laura <br />Rebekah Lodge No. 26~meeting the qualification as out- <br />lined in Section 19-36; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of <br />the City of Charlottesville that a permit be granted <br />to Laura Rebekah Lodge No. 26 to conduct bingo parties <br />in accordance with all the provisions of Section 19-36 <br />of the Code of the City of Charlottesville for a period <br />of one year from the date is this resolution; and <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the Council <br />be directed to send a copy of this resolution to the <br />Secretary of Laura Rebekah Lodge No. 26. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mrs. Rinehart, seconded by Mr. Gilliam <br />the following resotu~is~was unanimously adopted. <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION appointing viewers to consider a <br />request for the vacation of a portion of that deadend <br />alley lying between and parallel with Dale Avenue and <br />Preston Avenue. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council has received a petition <br />requesting vacation of a portion of that deahend alley <br />lying between and parallel with Dale Avenue and Preston <br />Avenue; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it appears to Council that the notices <br />required by Section 15.1-364 of the Code of Virginia <br />(1950), as amended, have been duly posted; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council <br />of the City of Charlottesville that Messrs. J. P. <br />Borden, Mason S. Byrd and H. P. Winn~report in writing <br />to Council what inconvenience, if any, would result <br />from such vacation. <br /> <br /> The City Manager advised the Council that the City <br />received bids on May 4th for the construction of two <br />basketball courts, with a five foot walkway around the <br />court at Washington Park. He stated that the only bid <br />received was from S. L. Williamson Company for $11,950 <br /> <br /> <br />
