i3i <br /> <br />Approval of minutes <br /> <br />Public Hearing - <br />Ordinance creating an <br />Industrial Development <br />Authority <br /> <br />Appointment re: <br />Economic Development <br />Commission <br /> <br />Appointment re: Resource <br />Recovery Commiss ion <br />Mr. Brunton remaining <br /> <br />Appointment re: Authority <br />Committee for the South <br />Rivanna Reservoir - <br />Mrs. O'Brien remaining <br /> <br />Matters by the Public <br /> <br />Executive Session <br /> <br />Appointment re: Charlottes- <br />ville-Albemarle Regional <br />Jail Board and <br />Bicentennial Commission <br /> <br />Appointment re: Thomas <br />Jefferson Planning District <br />Commission <br /> <br /> The minutes of the meetings of' June 21st and June <br /> <br />28th were approved as corrected. <br /> <br /> A public hearing was held on this date on the <br /> <br />ordinance creating an Industrial Development Authority. <br />Mr. Wiley, City Attorney briefly outlined the provisions <br />of the ordinance. Mr. Louis Scribner addressed the Council <br />in support of the ordinance. Mr. George Wiely addressed <br />the Council and requested that some of the appointments <br />to the authority board be made from minorities and low <br />income areas. After discussion, action on this ordinance <br />was' deferred until the next meeting. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Barbour, J. S. Rush, Jr., was <br /> <br />elected to the Economic Development Commission, by <br />unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> Mr. Brunton, stated that he was presently a member <br /> <br />of the Resource Recovery Commission and would be happy <br />to continue serving on this commission if it met with <br />council approval. On motion by Mr. Fife, seconded by <br />Mr. Gatewood, Mr. Brunton was requested to continue .... ~ <br />serving on this commission. <br /> <br /> Mrs. O'Brien s~ated that she was presently a member <br />of the Authority Committee for the South Rivanna Reservoir <br />and would like to c~ntinue on this committee. On motion <br />by Mr. Gatewood, seconded by Mr. Fife, Mrs. O'Brien~ <br />was requested to continue on this committee. <br /> <br /> Mr. George Wiley addressed the Council and suggested <br /> the appointment of a Transit Board or Committee to <br /> evaluate the transit operation and make recommendations. <br /> <br /> Mr. James King~ representing the Jefferson Park <br /> <br /> Avenue Neighborhood Association addressed the Council and <br /> expressed appreciation to the Traffic Department for its <br /> efficiency in implementing Permit Parking in area two. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Fife, seconded by Mr. Brunton the <br /> Council voted to go into executive session to discuss <br /> personnel, property and legal matter, by the following <br /> recorded vote. Ayes: Mr. Barbour, Mr. Brunton, Mr. Fife, <br /> Mr. Gatewood and Mrs. O'Brien. Noes: None. <br /> <br /> The executive session was dispensed with and open <br /> session resumed. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. B~unto~, seconded by Mr. Barbour, <br /> <br /> Mr. Gatewood, was appointed to the Charlottesville-Albemarle <br /> Regional Jail Board and to the Bicentennial Commission. <br /> <br /> Mr. Brunton and Mr. Fife were appointed to the <br /> <br /> Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission. <br /> <br /> <br />
