176 <br /> <br />Resolution re: <br />Appointing viewers <br />for portion of <br />Ware Street <br /> <br />Consideration re: <br />Ordinance - Handicapped <br />Parking <br /> <br />Consideration re: <br />Noise Ordinance <br /> <br />Matters by the <br />Public <br /> <br />Executive Session <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the Council <br /> be directed to send a copy of this resolution to the President <br /> of the Charlottesville-Albemarle Jaycees. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Fife, seconded by Mr. Barbour tlne following <br /> resolution was unanimously adopted. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS,this Council has received a petition requesting <br /> vacation of that unopened portion of Ware Street approximately <br /> 50 feet wide lying between Stonehenge and Rockland Avenues and <br /> bordering along lots 1 and 18, Block A as shown on City Tax Map <br /> 27; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it appears to Council that the notices required <br />by Section 15.1-364 of the Code of Virginia (1950), as amended, <br />have been duly posted; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the <br /> City of Charlottesville that Messrs. J. P. Borden, Mason S. <br /> Byrd and H. P. Winn report in writing to Council what <br /> inconvenience, if any, would result from such vacation. <br /> <br /> An ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ARTICLE III <br /> <br />OF CHAPTER 16 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1976, <br />BY ADDING A SECTION 16-43.1 RELATING TO PARKING MOTOR VEHICLES <br />IN PARKING SPACES RESERVED FOR THE HANDICAPPED," was offered by <br />Mr. Barbour, seconded by Mr. Brunton and carried over to the <br />next meeting for consideration. <br /> <br /> A motion by Mr. Gatewood, seconded by Mr. Brunton that <br /> <br />section 16.1-6 of the ordinance entitled "AN ORDINAINCE TO AMEND <br />THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CI{ARLOTTESVILLE, 1976, BY ADDING A <br />CHAPTER 16.1, CONTAINING SECTIONS 16.1-1 THROUGH 16.1-10, <br />RELATING TO NOISE CONTROL," be amended to change the sound <br />level from 60 DBA to 65 DBA was adopted by the following <br />vote. Ayes: Mr. Barbour, Mr. Brunton, and Mr. Gatewood. <br />Noes: Mr. Fife and Mrs. O'Brien. <br /> <br /> Mr. James King, President of the Jefferson Park Avenue <br />Neighborhood Association addressed the Council with reference <br />to the parking lot across Jefferson Park Avenue from Cabell <br />Hall, and requested that this matter be placed on the agenda <br />for the next Council meeting for discussion. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Barbour, seconded by Mr. Gatewood the <br /> <br />Council voted to go into executive session to discuss personnel <br />and property by the following vote. Ayes: Mr. Barbour, ~ir. <br />Brunton_, Mr. Fife, Mr. Gatewood and Mrs. O' Brien.
