Approval of Refund of Tax <br />overpayment <br /> <br />Declaring National <br />P~lice Week and <br />Nation Public Works <br />Week <br /> <br />Endorsing Amtrak <br />Route through <br />Charlottesville <br /> <br />Ordinance re: Lease <br />on 742 Nalle Street <br /> <br />Executive Session <br /> <br /> The City Attorney advised the Council that the owners <br /> <br /> of the real estate located at 1901 Hydraulic Road had over paid <br /> their 1976 Real Estate Taxes in the amounn of $5,851.43 and <br /> recommended that a refund be made in accordance with Section <br /> 58-1141 thru 58-1144 of the Code of Virginia. On motion by Mr. <br /> Barbour, seconded by Mr. Gatewood a refund in the amount of $5,851.43 <br /> was approved for William N. Demas-and Richard S. Beatty, Trus~tees. <br /> <br /> The Mayor proclaimed the Week of May 15th thru May 21st <br /> <br /> as National Police Week and the Week of May 22nd thru May 28th <br /> <br /> as National Public Works Week. <br /> <br /> The Mayor a~nnounced that Amtrak is considering two alternate <br />routes for its proposed train service between Roanoke and <br />Washington, known as the Hilltopper. One of the alternate routes <br />would pass through Charlottesville, on motion by.Mr. Fife, seconded <br />by Mr. Barbour, Council endorsed the route of this train through <br />Charlottesville. <br /> <br /> An ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR <br /> <br />TO SIGN A LEASE FOR A TERM OF FORTY YEARS OF CITY PROPERTY LOCATED <br /> <br />AT 742 NALLE ST~REET," which was offered at the meeting of the Council <br />on May 9, 1977, was adopted by the following recorded vote. Ayes: <br />Mr. Barbour, Mt. Fife, Mr. Gatewood and Mrs. O'Brien. Noes: None. <br />Absent: Mr. Brunton. <br /> <br /> A motion by Mr. Fife, seconded by Mr. Gatewood that Council meet <br />in executive session to discuss a matter exempted by Section <br />2.1-344(a)(2) and 2.1-344(a)(6) of the Virginia Freedom of Information <br />Act, was adopted by the following recorded vote. Ayes: Mr. Barbour, <br />Mr. Fife, Mr.Gatewood and Mrs. O'Brien. Noes: None.
