Communication re: Mr. Richard gen~i~.s Chairman of the School Board addressed School Board - ~ ~-'~.~ ~ Architect's Fees the Council and outlined the needs of an auxiliary gymnasium at Charlottesville High School. He requested approval to use up to $37,500 for preparation of preliminary plans and construction documents. Action on this request was deferred until Thursday, October 20th at 12:30 p.m. TrainingCommunication Coordinator re: The City Manager advised the Council that present funding for the position of Training Coordinator ceases on December 31st and that the position is funded with anti-recession funds. He also noted that the City received additional anti-recession funds this past week and recommended that the position be extended for another year. On motion by Mr. Barbour, seconded by Mr. Brunton the foregoing recommendation was unanimously adopted. Communication re: R & W Car Wash - Appeal and reconsideration of amendments to Water Consumption Ordinance Communication re: Albemarle Brick Cleaning Co. Appeal Communication re: Chamber of Commerce Tourist & Convention Program Appropriation re: $831,000 from Public Works Funds 28'7 A communication was presented from Mr. Rick Wilhoit owner of the R & W Car Wash requesting some relief from the ordinance prohibiting the washing of automobiles. Mr. W. A. Hall owner of Self'Service Car Washes also addressed the Council and requested relief. A motion by Mr. Brunton, seconded by Mr. Fife that car washes be allowed to be open five days a week, Wednesday thru Sunday, was unanimously adopted. An ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND REORDAIN THE ORDINANCE ADOPTED OCTOBER 7, 1977 TO REDUCE WATER CONSUMPTION BY PROHIBITING EXCESSIVE USE OF WATER AND BY PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR VIOLATIONS;" was offered by Mr. Brunton, seconded by Mr. Fife and carried over to a special meeting on October 20th. A communication was also presented from Mr. Aubrey Coleman owner of a brick cleaning business requesting relief from the ordinance. A communication was presented from the Chamber of Commerce requesting funds for reprinting the Tourism Brochure for 1977. The City Manager advised the~Council that an appropriation of $6,000 is included in the present city budget. A motion by Mr. Barbour, seconded by Mr. Fife that the City provide $4,000 to the Chamber of Commerce for brochures contingent on the County providing $2,000, was unanimously adopted. The resolution appropriating $831,000 from the Public Works Funds which was offered at the meeting of the Council on October 3, 1977, was adopted by the following recorded vote. Ayes: Mr. Barbour, Mr. Brunton, Mr. Fife, Mr. Gatewood and Mrs. O'Brien. Noes: None.
