Communication re: Mr. Richard gen~i~.s Chairman of the School Board addressed <br />School Board - ~ ~-'~.~ ~ <br />Architect's Fees the Council and outlined the needs of an auxiliary gymnasium at <br /> Charlottesville High School. He requested approval to use up to <br /> $37,500 for preparation of preliminary plans and construction <br /> documents. Action on this request was deferred until Thursday, <br /> October 20th at 12:30 p.m. <br />TrainingCommunication Coordinator re: The City Manager advised the Council that present funding <br /> <br />for the position of Training Coordinator ceases on December <br />31st and that the position is funded with anti-recession funds. <br />He also noted that the City received additional anti-recession <br />funds this past week and recommended that the position be <br />extended for another year. On motion by Mr. Barbour, seconded <br />by Mr. Brunton the foregoing recommendation was unanimously <br />adopted. <br /> <br />Communication re: <br />R & W Car Wash - <br />Appeal and <br />reconsideration of <br />amendments to <br />Water Consumption <br />Ordinance <br /> <br />Communication re: <br />Albemarle Brick <br />Cleaning Co. <br />Appeal <br /> <br />Communication re: <br />Chamber of Commerce <br />Tourist & <br />Convention Program <br /> <br />Appropriation re: <br />$831,000 from <br />Public Works Funds <br /> <br />28'7 <br /> <br /> A communication was presented from Mr. Rick Wilhoit owner <br /> <br /> of the R & W Car Wash requesting some relief from the ordinance <br /> prohibiting the washing of automobiles. Mr. W. A. Hall <br /> owner of Self'Service Car Washes also addressed the Council <br /> and requested relief. A motion by Mr. Brunton, seconded by Mr. <br /> Fife that car washes be allowed to be open five days a week, <br /> Wednesday thru Sunday, was unanimously adopted. An ordinance <br /> entitled "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND REORDAIN THE ORDINANCE <br /> ADOPTED OCTOBER 7, 1977 TO REDUCE WATER CONSUMPTION BY <br /> PROHIBITING EXCESSIVE USE OF WATER AND BY PROVIDING A PENALTY <br /> <br /> FOR VIOLATIONS;" was offered by Mr. Brunton, seconded by Mr. Fife <br /> <br /> and carried over to a special meeting on October 20th. <br /> <br /> A communication was also presented from Mr. Aubrey Coleman <br /> <br /> owner of a brick cleaning business requesting relief from the <br /> <br /> ordinance. <br /> <br /> A communication was presented from the Chamber of Commerce <br />requesting funds for reprinting the Tourism Brochure for 1977. <br />The City Manager advised the~Council that an appropriation <br />of $6,000 is included in the present city budget. A motion by <br />Mr. Barbour, seconded by Mr. Fife that the City provide $4,000 <br />to the Chamber of Commerce for brochures contingent on the <br />County providing $2,000, was unanimously adopted. <br /> <br /> The resolution appropriating $831,000 from the Public Works <br /> <br />Funds which was offered at the meeting of the Council on October <br /> <br />3, 1977, was adopted by the following recorded vote. Ayes: <br /> <br />Mr. Barbour, Mr. Brunton, Mr. Fife, Mr. Gatewood and Mrs. O'Brien. <br /> <br />Noes: None. <br /> <br /> <br />
